when i do this, and it starts to compress, it only takes a few seconds and the output ends up only being around 15 mb...so something isnt right

You are not getting the right movie file like I said use the preview pan and make sure the little button beside the movie file you want is highlighted

i did that...when its ripped to hard drive, it shows up correct, its when i convert, it asks me if i wanna over write the saved file when i start to convert, and i can only select yes, and when i do that is when the file changes to the 15mb...

i think i figured it out...i was saving the ripped file in the temp folder of dvd fab and thats the same file used to hold the compressed file so it seems to confuse dvd fab...
