Gawww! I have a new problem, the first two dics worked fine but now ever disk I put in throws a 102 error literally a second after it starts analyzing the dvd. Any ideas? Doing main movie only works but I'd rather have the whole dvd

it sounds like DVDFab and Ubuntu are trying to access the disc at the same time. Make sure the disc is in the drive and you can see it in the Ubuntu file system before starting DVDFab. You will need to stop DVDFab between discs.

I did that but it still doesn't work. I went back and tried the dics that did work and when I go to Main Movie it shows that each title is only 22 seconds.

Okay so I finally go it to work. My wine files were all messed up so I uninstalled and reinstalled. Now I can burn DVDs perfectley, thank you Complication!

But now how do I burn these files to a DVD? The blank DVD is not recognized by DVDfab and all of my current methods have failed at trying to burn them onto a DVD different ways

Try downloading and installing Imgburn if you can and burn with that. It's the best burner money can buy, AND ITS FREE!!

DVDFab under Wine is not going to be usefull for compressing and/or writting to a disc because it will continually be in free mode. You cannot register it properly due to a conflict between the licensing mechanism and Wine's handling of the registry. While still in trial mode you will get a watermark on the video. In free mode you will not be able to compress.

Once the protection has been removed from the DVD using DVDFab in Wine to the hard drive, I usually use other programs to compress the video (not for discussion here) and then use K3B to burn the ISO. I own the full license to DVDFab but don't get to use it much.

Upgrade title of this thread maybe?

                (As Ubuntu 10.10 is out?)

                Hi folks.

I've been using a registered version of DVDFab (bly-ray copy) under VirtualBox / XP with no problems except for speed.

Lately I re-discovered that DVDFab works under Wine again so I installed a demo copy and began using it with a lot of joy.

I use no fancy stuff at all as I only wants the unencrypted .m2ts files.
The splash screen says DVD copy expires nov 30/Bly-Ray copy expires nov 30

Now to the issues: Today I decided it was a nice day to enter my license data (blu-ray copy, never expires) and did so.
BAM! DVD copy still expires nov 30 but bly-ray copy is EXPIRED and does no longer work.

Very nice. I guees the hacked-into-stone-phrase "wine is not supported" is going to be thrown in my face but I still wonder:

Has anyone succeeded in enter registration key under Wine/DVDFab 8 (second latest as I declined the update)?
Can my mistake be undone so I can use the software (I've paid for...) for another 12 days?

If someone feels that I stoled the thread so let me know and I start one by my own.

The third-party license key software used by DVDFab is not compatable with Wine. The DVDFab developers do not write this software and are unable to help (short of them switching license key software vendors).

You can continue to use the Free HD Decryptor to rip to the hard drive but you will need to use VB for anything else.

                    Point taken. I'll wait.

About HD decrypter: I thought that software only was useful for ripping HD-DVD:s (the format that "lost" to Blu-Ray).

Do you mean I can use it for BD-backups as well?
I only want the .m2ts files, the rest is done by hand. More fun. Great control. Superb results.

                      Wait for what?

                        Wait for better registry handling?
                        Or native Linux version?

What other things can I possibly do? Go postal among my toys in the sandbox?

Linux IS a platform to take notice of now, especially in the home theatre scene.
                        So I'll wait.
                        Not necessarily for Fengtao though.

HD Decrypter is just the name of the always free portion. It has nothing to do with HD-DVD. This very nice looking page from the main website should answer your questions:

Don't mind GregiBoy, anything non-Windows makes him cranky. He is right that DVDFab is a strictly Windows shop and that is unlikely to change. Rather than debate the merits of that position, lets just be happy that we are allowed to discuss our non-supported ways here on the official forums.

Nah, non-Windows platforms do not make me cranky at all and I respect the right of people to utilise whatever OS that they wish that fills their needs.

                            To be honest I hate Micro$oft producta & OS's....

What does make me cranky is people that purchase programs (Such as Fab) that are not advertised for their OS and then expect support to get the software working from the original vendor wheras they should be obtainig support for their OS from the appropriate areas/forums.
