    copy but won't burn

Hello everyone.. need some help.... all feedback is appreciated. OK, here is the problem.. I have an external DVD Burner(Memorex). I can place a DVD in it, and it will copy the data on that DVD to my harddrive... however it will not allow me to put a blank DVD into it and copy onto the new clean DVD...(worked in the past hundreds of times) I have tried DVD + and DVD-.. but for some reason it does not recognize that blank DVD.. error message that appears is "recognizing new DVD", and then after about 5 tries of trying to read the blank DVD it spits it out... can't be the types of DVD I am using... could it be that the DVD Burner is shot.. and will only copy to the hardrive.. That's why I had to buy the external DVD burner in the first place.. wore the internal one out in my desktop.. and the one that was in my destop did the very same thing.. would copy fine to the harddrive.. but wouldn't allow me to burn anything to a blank DVD.... any suggestions would be greatful... thanks!

You are using a really old version of Fab "DVDFab 7.0.5.1 (2010/05/03 19:11:49)" c&p form your log. If you are using version 7.0.5.1 you should update.

A couple of things to check: be sure the quality box (center bottom) is set to DVD-5 for a single layer blank. And check the green circle to go into common settings then go down to “Write” and make sure the DVD-5 setting does not exceed 4472, that will make do what you describe. See attachment:
The advice from CBR929 is probably the best you are going to get!

                    It happened to me too

It happened to me as well. And I couldn't figure out what was going on and why it kept spitting out. It was giving me an error message like no media detected or something like that and I was getting real aggravated but I started to give up when I found a website by accident and it explained to me what could happen. I don't know what Windows you're using but I am using Windows XP but here is the website so that you can research it and it will explain it to you and what to do to fix the problem.

                      Hi everyone.

Prican1493 thank you for the advice.. but when I go on that site you recoomended.. it is just full of so much information and with me be newbie at this,,, way too confusion for me.. but thank you anyway..

I do have one question for everyone.. could the problem be this.. I have purchased the DVD FAb about two years ago... do I have to purchase a renew license for version 8to work.. or does the one I purchase two years ago give me a lifetime? I know these are stupid questions for all of you experts out there.. but I am a newbie.. and appreciate all the "english tems" you could give me..
                      so in point form
                      1) do I have to make a purchase to renew my DVD FAB for version 8 to work?
                      2) and if I do, could this have been my problem all along.. it will copy to the harddrive,, just not copy from the harddrive to a blank DVD be the result.

again.. thank you very much for all your help!!! it is greatly appreciated.
