I'm just wondering if the OP is going by the initial filesize after DVDFab reads it and then selects Main Movie wondering why the size is smaller? If this is the case, it's because the Full Disc is the size you're looking at and expecting it to be when the Main Movie selects only the movie portion of the disc leaving the extras out of it. It will naturally be a smaller size. If this is indeed what you're doing, there is no problem. If it's another issue altogether, I apologize for my impertinence.

When the size is smller than 23.145G,it will Uncompressed to BD25.

Social network compression problem

I've been using Lightning recoding with success, until today. Compressing Social Network ends up with a file 14Gb instaed of the target 22Gb. Tried 8.0.7.3 twice, and now i'm trying the latest beta version. Everything set to software. No settings have been changed from many successful operations. Maybe it's just this disc. The log indicates a proper target size, but the real size is only 14gb.

Same thing with the newest beta version. I'm now going to try with Lightning encoding turned off.
This is main movie only to BD25. Main movie file size is 25.1 Gb.

you are not using the original disc? there is no protection on this disc?

This is a full disc .iso that has been ripped to the hard drive. The protection has already been removed.
The same thing with the latest beta version and Lightning encoding unchecked.
This time the final size is 15.1 Gb. Now i'm going to try an older version 7 and see what happens.

I tried it on an older version 7, and the same result. The target was 22 3 Gb, and the result was 15.2 Gb.

This time i made an .iso of the main movie and the HD audio on one hard drive. The resulting .iso was 25.3 Gb. I then ran the .iso through dvdfab using BD25 as the output and after 2 hours came up with a file 13.8 Gb in size.
I'm just trying different scenarios to try and get this to work properly, but it appears it's not possible with this particular movie.

On my blu ray copy of The Social Network, I'm doing a BD25 compression. It states that 87% will take the original 25.338gb down to 22.461gb (enough to find on a BD25 disc). After 14 hours of compression, the resulting directory is only 14gb instead of 22.461gb, the main movie file is something like 13.8gb, when it should be 22gb. Why is the compression taking the files down to 8-9gb less then they should be?

I just put in my Social Network disc which is compressed down to a 25Gb disc, this is not a protected backup and when I click on it in the win explorer used space is 13.9 Gb and the movie plays fine!! So but when I popped it in and hit properties it said something like 22.9 GB with nothing free and after selecting it and then doing properties on the BMDV file it said 13.9 and when I checked properties again it gave me the correct file size!! I really don't care what number's Fab gives me so long as it plays ok I guess thats all that matters!!

The 25 Gb movie only plays fine on the computer. I don't have a copy of the compressed version. I guess i should have checked that out before i deleted it. Maybe someone else who has the same problem will have tried.

I never paid attention to the time it took but it was not anything different then all the other movies I have done!! But the disc says 13.9 compressed and it plays fine in both my players. I don't know if this thread is about why the wrong numbers in compression or Fab copied the move and it does not play?? I cant speak for people that compress 50 to 25gb. But my copy compressed is 13.9 and plays just fine!

I'm sure most of us are curious as to why this movie compresses so much and most others reach the target of 22 Gb give or take a few bytes. It's wasted space on a 25 Gb disc that should be used for movie data. At least the over compressed version plays ok. Unless the developers find out a reason why, i'll have to make a super compressed version. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
