    50gb->25gb Compression Results

    On my blu ray copy of The Social Network, I'm doing a BD25 compression. It states that 87% will take the original 25.338gb down to 22.461gb (enough to find on a BD25 disc). After 14 hours of compression, the resulting directory is only 14gb instead of 22.461gb, the main movie file is something like 13.8gb, when it should be 22gb. Why is the compression taking the files down to 8-9gb less then they should be?

    Post the DVDFab internal log for that conversion. Also the burn log (there will be one whether you burned the disc or not).

      I did a copy of the Social Network yesterday and same as you, I did a 50 gb to 25 gb compression; however mine actually came to 22 gigs.

      Here's what I would try: try ripping it to your hard drive first then strip out the main movie, compress, and also remove the HD audio and see what you get. Total time for me was about 4 hours. With the 87% compression, I can't tell any loss in quality.

              Go to the A/V Codec settings located in common settings of DVDFab and uncheck Lightning-Recoding to see if that works

                That was the first thing I thought too. Still doesn't change anything. Results are still the same.

                        Well, turning off lightning option took the files from 13.8 gb to 17.2 gb, an improvement, but something is still wrong since it should be 22.461 gb.

                          Post internal logs again and as well could you go into common settings of DVDFab and use the Save info files to save them to your computer. Then zip them and attach to a post reply. No need to fill your name or email address but a buy link for the Blu-ray is helpful for the Developers as this seems to be a compression problem for this Blu-ray

                              Not yet, I'm going to compress the movie again and then send the files and logs as requested. This is the only title so far with this type of issue.
