Maineman and other with the AIOS, does this play DTS-HD MA and stream it to your receiver as such?

EDIT: I think I read an update on Amazon that said they fixed it to work on ISO and MKVs but now I'm wondering about folders, which is what I have (BDMV and CERTIFICATE).

I have a lot of backups on external HDs that I use with my PC, which isn't dedicated to movies so I have to restart and hook the HDMI cable into my larger HDTV to utilize it. In addition to that, I've been getting ever so slight jitter that is bothering me more than it should so I'm opting for a standalone media player (although I was thinking of trying my hand at building a dedicated HTPC but fear of the jittering is preventing me from doing so). At first I was looking at the Dune but I don't see any USB 3.0 support except in the TV-301 compact model which has no DTS-HD MA support, and Dunes players also cost a lot more than the AIOS.

UPDATE: I just ordered the AIOS HD Media Center on Amazon for $89.99 with free shipping. I figured what do I have to lose?

Same thing, different terminology... unless you're speaking specifically about DVDFab's Blu-ray Ripper as opposed to Blu-ray Copy.

For $89 US, I doubt you'll be sorry...even if you get the older, crappy remote..., but hopefully you'll get the "updated" one.

I bought my AIOS a year ago and I have not experienced any files that are not supported and I still have the original firmware (US_2151 from 8/11).
I've played mkv (standard dvd and BD) and .ISO's (both BD and standard) from the get-go.
Maybe what you saw was a really old post?

The AIOS does support MTS-HD/7.1 ch via HDMI connection.

I did some perusing on the net in order to differentiate between MTS-HD MA and MTS-HD.
Opinions ranged from a huge difference to none.
I'm left with the sense that it probably won't make any difference to the average user, but in truth, I don't know beans about this.

I'm still using my tv's audio output. I'm just glad I don't have to remove the HD audio like I did to play via my older Argosy.
Since I rarely burn media, the difference in file size is negligble...for me anyway.

Besides, I'm planning on a new tv and a decent home theater system for Christmas.
I'd like to get a Bose system, but I don't want to tell the boss (wife) I'm paying more for it than the tv...

As I know that you are an "OLD FART" like me and had a misspent youth with Jimmi Henrix, led Zeppelin, etc, I'll just make a comment from experience.

I have 2 super uBeaut surround systems, 1 Pioneer, 1 Onkyo with huge speakers etc and a Bose SoundLink (A soundbar type system which sits in the front of the TV http://worldwide.bose.com/axa/en_au/...kers/page.html) all connected up. To put in perspective the Onkyo A/V amp alone cost me AUD 3000 while the SoundLink cost me AUD 450.

Guess what gets used 99% of the time? The Bose SoundLink!!!

The big ones rarely get turned on unless I want to piss the neighbours off!!!

No dice at newegg, but Amazon has them at $299 US and $349 (leather trim) respectivelly.
Hard to beat Bose...nice small footprint and great sound.

I'm enjoying the AIOS HD Media Center with aasoror's Semiofficial Firmware 3.0.1.7 R19 and it's awesome. I did get the old remote but after contacting Pivos Group, they asked me to send them proof of purchase from Amazon for the newer remote and I did that yesterday. We'll see what they say as I think it may be free the way the email sounded.

I was having some occasional DTS-HD MA audio drop outs from folders and M2TS files for a while but I changed my HDMI cable and it seems to be somewhat stable. However, every now and then after clicking on some M2TS files, the audio doesn't kick in right away and after pausing or stopping and playing again, it's fine. However, with all of that said, there's no way even with problems that this player isn't worth it's weight it gold! It plays much better than my PC setup did with MPC-HC and it sure in the hell beats playing Cinavia with the PS3 and having the audio cut out completely after 20 minutes!

Like I've said, it's not perfect, but media players are definitely the way to go.

I read about some sound issues with the new "firmware".
Any chance that's what you're experiencing?

Were any of these sound issues evident prior to flashing your AIOS?

I haven't noted any problems myself...still running with the original firmware...no issues at all besides the crappy remote.

Yes, the problem existed on the shipped firmware which was 2.8.3.2. I've tried R19 3.0.1.7 and I'm now on R20 3.0.1.7 which are the semiofficial firmwares. I'm watching the HBO series Treme now from my 2TB USB HDD and every now and then I notice an audio dropout on DTS-HD MA streams. It sounds like a handshake issue or a glitch with the drivers or something. I'll make sure I post it on the Discussion and Bug Report Pivos forums.

I had problems with Audio files also and I went back and forth with firmware till I got one that will work!

Theres an semioffical R21 3.0.1.7 release also! I asked aasoror about it and he said they have reverted back and forth on the Audio drivers!

The R21 plays the DTS-HD MA just fine! I've also found just re-doing the same firmware from USB will also work! Had to do it a couple of times!

@MAINEMAN, you should be paid for product indorsment!
