Any update on the "black screen" effect on standalone players?

Hi, there have been many posts about this in different threads: when used in a standalone Blu-ray player, cloned copies of the films listed below just display a black screen, sometimes after showing the copyright notice or logos.

    Titles affected are:
    Prometheus 3D and 2D (Fox)
    Avatar 3D (Fox)
Wrath of the Titans 3D and 2D (Warner)

I'm not sure if Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D or I, Robot 3D (2 other recent Fox titles) are affected or if other Warner titles are. BD50 discs are expensive so I don't wanna risk a coaster, but it seems that the problem is not fixed yet in v8.2.1.6 after reading another comment on another thread.

Is this being looked at? Last time I heard, they were working on it but no news since...

I Robot 3D does also have this same problem.
I tried the latest Beta 6 to see if it was sorted but its not.
Been about a month now and no solutions yet offered.

Thanks, I'm glad I didn't try yet, same for Abe Lincoln 3D... I really hope this will be fixed soon, it's so frustrating. Any comments, Fengtao?

there is also a log i posted in the decryption updates forum for avatar 3d using .5
          http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=19200

They seem to decrypt and burn fine ( i have even tried creating iso and burning at 2 speed with imgburn. )

All the discs do play fine in powerdvd on my pc but on 3 different standalones ( LG and Panasonic ) the warning plays, then the menu of the movie but as soon as the movie starts i either just get black screen and no sound or the movie starts but immediately pixcelates freezes and goes black screen.

Its not the discs as i am backing up lots of other blurays perfect and they play well on the standalones..it only seems to be the latest releases as spacemonkey pointed out.
I have found the same issue with
          Prometheus
          Avatar
          wrath of titans
          I robot ..All 3D.

I first suspected Cinavia but was told its not acting how it should if it was a cinavia issue.

I have tried full disc, movie only, burn as iso as well as the normal reccomended way to burn a 3d disc onto a 25gb disc.

I have supplied Anny at support ( email )with all the details of where i bought the discs, region code etc but havent heard back from Anny except to say the info i gave was important.

If you can throw any light on this Wilson Id be extremely grateful as it doesnt seem to be effecting some posters in America who say they have a successful back up of these films ( although i think most are using pcs or media players to playback. )

If you need any further info i will keep checking here twice a day thanks again for responding.

You're lucky - I don't even get the warnings on my Samsung player. Just a black screen.

I agree, my player is Cinavia-free and still it happens.

                  Hi, all

Make sure that you backup 3D source follow these ways:

For compressing 3D source with "Copy as 3D" option, plesae follow these ways:
                  1. Clone - 1:1.
                  2. Please set DVDFab Burning engine manually in Common Settings if you want to compressto to bd25/50 blank disc directly.
                  2. You must mount the .miniso file by DVDFab Virtual Drive v1380 or later when playback on PowerDVD or TMT if you target to an folder.
And if you want to burn the folder, you should set DVDFab burning engine in Common Setting and then burn the targeted folder in Write Data.
                  3. Target to an ISO file, not need to set DVDFab burning manually, DVDFab will switch to DVDFab burning automatically(Still need set DVDFab burning mannually in fulldisc bd50 ISO output). Then you could burn the bd25 ISO file by DVDFab Write Data mode or ImgBurn etc.

Please tell me your details of backup your 3D source. Used mode, blank disc type, standalones. It's better to attach your log file.

                  Wilson

If it's the burning issue, please also attach burn log.

I always do it like this:

                      1. Clone - 1:1. (as an ISO on my HDD...)
                      2. I did set DVDFab Burning engine manually in Common Settings ...
                      3. I do a Copy to 25G as an ISO-File on my HDD .
                      4. I burn the resulting ISO with ImgBurn .

Like this it has always worked very well (but the stuttering playback wich is another bug...)

Now, with Avatar 3D i only get Black-Screen on my Phillips-BD-Player.

PS: trying to do a SBS with this "problem"-BD results in a error: 1010(500.07 2)

                      3DMode: Blu-ray SBS 3D
error: not find valid right m2ts file for 3D left m2ts(9)
                      blu-ray full disc 500.07 2

could this be a problem for the 3D BD25, too ?

                        Hi Wilson,

I only do 1:1 clones via Blu-ray copy, 50GB original to 50GB blank disc and I use the DVDFab burning engine. I never did anything else than that and all discs played fine. I'm not very technical so I don't even know what "mounting" an ISO means LOL. But if I just want to do a clone, do I really need to do all that?!

                        Thanks!

                          Manually I think Wilson.
I have tried numerous ways including burning iso with imgburn.

Heres what i do for other 3ds that work perfectly.
I open bluray copy and set it to full disc ( 50gb setting ),i make sure copy as bluray 3d is ticked then I target the dvdfab full disc folder and make a complete backup on Hard drive including the mini iso.
I then close bluray copy and mount the mini iso using the latest version of virtual drive.
I then put in a blank 25gb disc and open bluray copy which automatically finds the mounted iso i change the setting to b25,have it set on full disc, make sure 3d setting is ticked then click start, when its decrypted/shrunk down it automatically burns using dvdfab burning engine ( set to burn bluray at 2 speed ) it burns perfectly.
the disc will play in powerdvd but does not play on standalones.

I have varied this method by trying slow speed/high quality ( took forever )
still only got the black screen after almost a full day working on it.

its strange that it plays perfect on my computer but not on any of the 3 bluray standalones i have access to.

I have noticed this issue only on new titles prometheus, avatar,i robot in 3d

I have and still am backing normal 2d blurays with no issues at all ( battleship for example )
Seems like theres something on the newer 3d discs in uk that is causing this issue.
If I was backing it up incorrectly then it surely would not even work on my pc,and why are older 3d titles working perfectly ( a christmas carol/avengers/john carter )..its a real headache isint it.

Wilson, it would be great if the staff at DVDFab could simply try to see for themselves by cloning 1:1 Prometheus 3D for instance (US or UK disc), and trying to play the burned copy on a standalone player. It would be great it this could be solved, as all future Warner and Fox titles may well have the same issue.

Gary1609, I think we should keep updating this thread with any new title affected.

If anyone else knows of such issues, please post details here. Thanks!
