Any update on the "black screen" effect on standalone players?

I updated the new virtual drive and DVDFab but still no luck with prometheus 3D.

I cannot tell you how many coasters that adds up to now.

Im starting to wonder if Id get the same results with another bluray copy programme,I just get the feeling DVDFab will never resolve this issue because it seems to be getting disregarded as something we are doing wrong rather than an issue with the programme.

Hi, , FYI ,I have just backed up Prometheus 2D UK., using Fab 8.2.1.5 FULL DISC
no problem what so ever. Plays back o/k on stand alone (sony bdp-s380)
and on computer (TMT). I dont have power dvd its crap.

Thanks for this, I always use the "Clone" option, so I'm currently trying to backup Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D (Fox title giving a black screen in standalone players when cloned) in "Full Disc" mode instead. I'll post the result here when done.

I just don't get what the problem can be, as it seems that only recent 3D titles from Fox and Warner are affected.... but then again the recent Dial M for Murder 3D from Warner was cloned without any problem, but apparently Wrath of the Titans 3D won't work in "Clone" mode. I'm based in the UK so I buy UK Blu-rays, except for Prometheus 3D which was imported from the US, so it's not just happening on UK discs as Gary1609 suggested.


Known discs affected so far:
Prometheus 3D (Fox - both US and UK discs are affected)
Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D (Fox - only the UK disc was tested)
I, Robot 3D (Fox - only the UK disc was tested)
Avatar 3D (Fox - only the UK disc was tested)
Wrath of the Titans 3D (Warner - only the UK disc was tested)

I'm pretty sure that Ice Age 4 3D from Fox will also have this problem. Anyway, I'll be back in 2 hours to say if Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter 3D plays OK after being copied in Full Disc mode to a 50GB disc...

I just wanna confirm that Arthur Christmas 3D from Sony UK cloned perfectly earlier this week, so it's defo a Fox and Warner issue (except for Dial M for Murder 3D which is a Warner US disc and was cloned fine).

The player counter is stuck on 00:00. It plays fine on PowerDVD, as usual.

After reading Rickenbackers post I tried the 2D version of prometheus ( comes as seperate disc to the 3D version ) and it still ended up black screen.
I had minor success with wrath of titans,I did it on high quality which took forever and I tried movie only and it played through but at times the framerate looked a little jerky but just for a very brief moment,like it jumped a frame every 15 mins or so.
The trouble is it takes a whole day to do this( 20 HOURS FOR MOVIE ONLY ) and the result is not brilliant.

I have to admit I am close to giving up on it all,its taking too much time up and costing too much money with no results and no acknowledgement from support that they are working on a solution.

Fengtao, please just try to reproduce the problem... I bought a lifetime licence a few weeks back and I'm really disappointed to be ignored like this on such an important problem.

I have the same problem with ICE AGE 4 3D.

When I play it on TMT5 (mount and burn) = Black Screen
Burn it on BD-RE 50 = Works on my Sony BDP

I test with remuxed BD (without advertising)

That was to be expected as all Fox 3D titles are affected with this problem. With these titles, the only way is to get a disc that plays normally is to copy in Main Movie mode, but Full Disc and Clone won't work.

Fengtao, any update on this issue? These posts in the Decryption Updates forum (thread "General Questions Prometheus & Madagascar 3") sounded promising according to signals, a forum administrator:

I have found with the samsung standalone it is not happy with Cloned discs, it seems to be the dvdfab folder that is added which causes the problem. In my case I re copied Full disc to hard drive and copied only the necessary folders this solved the problem. Maybe this will be of help. It does seem to be Samsung players because both LG and Sony players dont have this problem

By the way Impsworld says the problem won't affect LG players, but it does. I have both a Samsung and a LG player and they are both affected.

But is the folder issue that he mentions a promising lead at least or not? Or is this problem to stay? Please update us guys!

Fix: A black screen problem when playback the copied Blu-ray 3D discs on TMT and PowerDVD players in certain cases. Note: This issue only reproduces in Full Disc mode and using the Blu-ray ISO files as source.

Perfect timing as I just received Ice Age 4 3D from Fox, which was certain to trigger the black screen. Cloning it now and I'll post the result here as soon as it's done!
