In the immortal words of Monty Python..."And now, for something completely different"

I am attempting something and it seems to be working. Put Cars in the 207 and am copying to the HDD. Only difference, is that I am copying Movie only in BD50 mode. It is ripping at around 32 mb/s and so far, I am at 65% (hightest yet). If this works, then I am going to try to shrink it down and burn to the 208 with Imgburn. That is where the conversion will be the heaviest. I will post back once the burn is started...up to 75% read to HDD now, CUDA is enabled! Can't disable without crashing...85% to HDD. 100% complete copy to HDD in 16:33. I will now attempt to shrink to BD25 and burn it

Opened the folder and let DVDFab 9 do the conversion to BD25 and burn. Conversion stopped 5:25 in at 11.71%. Conversion speed is spiraling downward toward 0 with no progress. Going to stop the conversion and post whatever log it has written. Looks as though the failure is NOT in the read of the disc, but the conversion. I have to use CUDA, because the program crashes if I do NOT use CUDA. Here is the log:

I am going to try one more thing. The Nvidia drivers 310.64 are beta of a new build. I am going to download 306.97, the last WHQL build and see if it makes any difference. Willl attempt the conversion off those drivers and post back

Nvidia 306.97 WHQL installed. 3:58 into the conversion and 11.05%, the conversion stalls and program just sitting there...slowly the conversion speed of 16.54 mb/s is dropping to 0. Still no success! There is something wrong with the the program and CUDA. So we have finally derived that reading isn't the issue, it's the conversion to BD25.

            Hi bobmitch

try doing a conversion from the folder copy using 8.2.2.2, you can have them both installed at once. Leave CUDA enabled with that version.

            Comment

              #21
              8.2.2.2 stops at 11.77%, 8.2.2.0 stops at 11.77%, 8.2.1.8 stops at 11.77%.

This did not happen before I installed v9. I did a copy of "To Kill a Mockingbird" on Win 8 with 8.2.1.8 last week. Then updated 8 to 8.2.2.2 and added v9. One other thing I can try...let me backtrack and reinstall Intel AHCI drivers 11.2 instead of 11.6

well that was a bad idea. Windows 8 doesn't like to roll drivers back. Now I can no longer acccess windows 8

OK...couldn't even get Win 8 to go to Safe Mode to recover...so I recovered from an earlier backup to Windows 7 and 9.0.1.1 just popped up a message at 11.41% that FabCore has stopped working! Guess what...the read to the drive stopped and just sits there like it does in Windows 8. Here is the report:

So in reality, the crash happens in Windows 7 with a report, where in Windows 8, you get no such report...the program just looks like it stalls....

Currently, I never updated v8 on the desktop and running 8.2.0.0 and it's doing the job. No freezing, nothing. Here is a snapshot of the progress...well beyond 11.41%

Perhaps it's not my machine...but the later builds of DVDFab

Tried 9.0.1.1 again on Win 7...stopped converting at 11.43%. There is definately something different about the newer versions. 8.2.0.0 finished reading and did the burn!

Out of interest, can you post the log file from 8.2.0.0, I'm interested to see if it was using GPU to decode/encode.

Ok that was a main movie only with no compression, thus the GPU wasn't touched and its not the same test as what you were doing with 9.0.1.1

Repeat what you were doing with 9.0.1.1 (copying a 50 to 25) using the 8.2.x.x and see if it stalls @ ~ 11%

Reinstalled my Win 8 and ran 8.2.2.0 Pooped out at 11.63% and just sat there. Had to cancel and close the program. In Win 7, I was running Nvidia GeForce 304 drivers. On Win 8, I am running 310.64. I have to believe that there are issues with DVDFab and the latest iterations of CUDA.

At this point, I am pretty dead in the water with DVDFab...just have to wait out newer versions and hope for the best...otherwise, I will install it on my laptop, which is still on Win 7 and see what happens. No CUDA there, for my GPU is an AMD 6850

I am bumping this up for the sake of DVDFab tech support employees. I cannot communicate back and forth via email, for they get returned to me undeliverable. So I am trying to make tech support read this thread. There is much useful information for them, yet they keep emailing me asking for replies...
