I did get the 3d version but only plan to use it when Cinavia becomes a problem.

    Two questions:

I assume you meant "USB" 3tb drive?

Is Cinavia going to become prevalent?

Thanks again for all the help. I am planning to follow your advice and use a hd not stream.

Yes USB 3t drive (UBS that was a typo).

So Far only Sony uses Cinavia on movies others don't seem interested.

        Sauran------

Or you can just make a copy of the backup, and when playing back on your freestanding player, make sure you are not connected to the internet. The replaying will not be picked up if you are not connected to the internet. If you play it back even once thru the freestanding player while connected to the internet, that file is stored and you will not be able to play it back. You can tho, delete out that file from you player (BY resetting it), and then play it back if you disconnect from the internet to watch. Cinavia coding isn't picked up when NOT connected to the internet.

I found that out about 1 year ago. I stay off-line on my freestanding players, and don't have any issues either with Blu-Rays (with Cinavia) or regular copies of DVD's... As long as you are off-line to the internet....... you won't get the hidden codes sent that enable all the Cinavia, or the codes that are sent stating that the disk you are playing isn't the original copy.....

Or you can go thru what these guys are talking about... and the expense. Up to U.

            DCC1048:
This is a great find if true as your saying a built in Cinavia chip in a player can be defeated from working if not connected to the internet if the copy did not ever play in the player. What did you do to reset the player to delete a copy if it did play in a effected player?

Can someone else with a effected by Cinavia player test this out I would but i don't have a effected blu ray player.

I think what it boils down to is if you have a player that does not have Cinavia detection in the firmware and never connect to the internet you won't get the update. Once the firmware is updated to detect Cinavia protection that's it, no going back and it doesn't matter if you are connected to the net or not.

That's what I was thinking but someone should test this with a effected player so we can know for sure.

How do you make sure it is not connected to the internet...close down the networking option?

                  Thanks

If you are connected to the internet and watch a Cinavia infected disk, it saves that file so that you will NEVER be able to watch it again on that system. You need to disconnect from the internet and reset the freestanding player as if it were out of the box. That will erase any files of any prewatched disks. Then, you can watch any and all.... But you will need to stay off-line from the internet in order to not have the original problem return..

                      Easy breezy...

I would like someone to test this with a newer effected by Cinavia blu ray player these have the built in chip to detect Cinavia to confirm if this is true.

This way we can tell if it's not a player that was not effected by Cinavia when new but was built with a Cinavia chip unactivated but got it's built in chip activated by a internet connection chip activation.A different story from one that was sold with a Cinavia chip built in already activated as most newer blu ray player are.

Also can all blu ray players be reset to factory settings than disconnected from the internet if a player already played a Cinavia effected disk on a effected player?

                          Honestly, why bother?

                          Not worth the effort.

You are right. I just know what works for me with my 2 players...and they both have their updated Firmware on them...

Some people have wayyyy too much time on their hands... I know I don't.

Disconnect wireless internet... unplug system. Plug in system to reset default (factory) settings w/o the internet connection. Same as if you were using an X-Box, etc.....
