    Clarification for Cinavia Protection

I just encountered this protection for the first time on The Call and Dead Man Down.

I just checked my Sony BDP-BX510 blu ray player documentation and it "supports" Cinavia protection.

After reading the main threads, I would just like some clarification. Am I just hosed if I see any reference to Cinavia when I start to backup a disc with DvdFab? Will none of the copies work after the 20 minute grace?

    Thank you

That's right! If your player supports it, and the disc has it, it won't play the back-up!

There's no way to remove Cinavia without destroying the audio. So if your standalone supports Cinavia, there's no way to play these copies on it.

Do yourself a favour and buy a decent Media Player (Less than 100 bux) and you won't have these problems.

And do not purchase anything SONY!!! They are the instigators of this crap.

          blanks etc.

Sorry to be dense but I know that a "media player" like Cyberlink or DVDFab will play the movies on my PC but how do I play them on my LG TV?

            Thanks

They are talking about hardware players that have HDMI or component video outputs.

I have two that both work very well:

Both of these can be found elsewhere but these pages have good pictures and specs.

The second one has a SATA drive bay. I just fill up 1 TB dries and rotate them through it.

Thanks for all your help. It is very much appreciated.

I have decided on the Micca mostly because of space. Please bear with me to see if I have this correct.

I hook my Micca to my A/V receiver and thus to LG TV and connect it to my wireless network. I can copy a bd disk or clone it using DVDFab 9. I can then either put the BDMV/Stream folder or ISO file in a server like Nero Media Home. Micca will recognize Nero Media Home and stream it to A/V-TV.

Does Micca have it's own version of Nero Media Home or Plex.

                  Thanks again.

I don't stream anything with my Micca I just hdmi to my receiver then hdmi from receiver to my tv.

I use a 3t UBS hard drive hooked to my media player to play movies and use fab to make the iso and output it to the 3t hard drive.

When making the iso or folder I plug the 3T drive into the computer when making a Fab iso by outputting the Fab output to the 3t drive so no transferring later.

When done and I want to play my collection of movies on the 3t hard drive I unplug it from the computer and plug it into the Micca.Streaming causes problems with high data rates so I don't have need to use it.

Wireless connectivity is not good enough for high bitrate files as Glenn said.

Also, I hate uPnP servers such as Nero Home or Plex. They add another level of complexity, potential bottleneck and potential problem. (eg: not being able to play external subtitles) although we HAD to use them a 4-5 years ago, that no longer is the case. IMHO, Twonky was, & still is the best DLNA server.

If you set the player up correctly you should be able to access SMB (Windoze) shares on your PC directly and play from there. Spend a little time & though on setting up your directory structure as it will pay in the long run,

Either use "SneakerNet" as Glenn does or hard wired Ethernet. Ethernet over Power adapters are an option if you can't cable.

PS: At any one time, I have between 4 and 8 players connected to my network and can play simultaneously on multiple players.

                        Works for me!

Thank you. I realize that is one way of doing it probably the best way but is it possible to stream the way I outlined?

Yep, you can but you will end up bald from ripping your hair out in frustration and support will be minimal, at best.

You didn't say which model Micca you got if you got the 3d model and want to stream that way you may run into problems as 3d has a lot more info. to stream.
