Well its not like ati cards are bad or anything, its just they don't have their own cuda type acceleration yet. I'm sure they will sooner than later. All my cards are nvidia but I would buy either. My server with dual amd opteron 2218s with 8 gb ram and a nvidia quadro fx 1700 does compression to a bd-25 in about 4 to 5 hours and my desktop with amd phenom II x4 945 with 4 gb ram and a nvidia geforce gtx 260 core 216 superclocked does it in about 3 to 4 hours depending on the movie. I was going to upgrade to a geforce gtx 480 but I hear they're still having some issues with those, will probably wait until they get it worked out.

I'm not knocking ATI or anything. I pretty much got the HD 5770 1 GB because it was on sale for $132 which was how much the 5750 512MB was going for and it seemed like a good deal especially since most websites with benchmarking results showed it just slightly behind the GTX 260 for about $70-$80 less. I just didn't sift through the forum as I well as I thought I did when I made some purchases and I didn't realize some of the higher end equipment needed to get what I think most of us would find a timely 2-4 hour end result time for BD-25 compression. I do like my card. It gets a 7.4 out of 7.9 on the Windows 7 index and if I can pick up another for around the same price it will perform close to a HD 5870 and GTX 285 and will out perform a HD 5850 and GTX 275 on some programs for less or close to the cost of those cards.
