Is there anyway to speed up the encoding process? As of right now I'm getting between 2.5mb/s - 5mb/s. I have an AMD Phenom X4 965 3.4Ghz with 8gb ddr2 800 and Radeon HD 4870 1GB. Any suggestions?

Unless you change your ATI card to nVIDIA CUDA-enabled card, this is it.... which is not that bad of a speed you currently have.

ok im going to run a few tests.
going to rip 5 identical movies from optical to temp folder(compressing them to 25gb)
and do the same 5 from a 10krpm drive in raid 0 to temp folder.
i will post my results this week.
