Saving Output Directory

I was wondering why I cannot seem to get the movies to save exactly where I want. Before I started using DVDfab I just set things up so the ISO file would save on my server, Z:\Movies\.

So that's what is showing under the output directory in DVDfab now, and I unchecked create files in subfolders.

But everytime I click on the ISO icon it creates a ISO folder under Z:Movies putting it Z:\Movies\ISO\. So none of my movies are saved where I want, and I don't like having to open a ISO folder.

So, am I missing something or is that just the way DVDfab works? Of course if I set it manually, it goes to the right place. But why do I have to do that?

If you have "Create files in subfolders" unchecked, it shouldn't be saving them in any folder, as far as I know anyways. Which version are you using?

Please try to install DVDFab 8.0.4.7 Beta at , and do as Racem22 indicates. It works fine.

Actually that is what I tried last night. But its done that on every version I've tried, which have mostly been beta's. I had to put in a new Hard-drive so I just installed everything new and first downloaded version 4.6 that crashed.

But then 4.7 was there just a little later so that is what I was using when I finally decided to ask here on the forum.

It does the exact same thing, Dvdfab adds ISO after z:\movies when I click on that ISO icon. Then it creates a ISO folder instead of putting it where all my other movies are. So, does this program not give me the option to put the ISO movies where I want them?

Everything has just been installed new so shouldn't be any conflicts causing it, but I didn't think there was before anyway. When I click the ISO icon, I want to put the file where I want it, not to create a ISO folder.

OK, I downloaded that and it does the same thing. So I guess my question is, is this program suppose to create a ISO folder when creating a ISO file when using the icon button? I mean I'm telling it where to go in the output directory under general, but its not doing what I want. It does the exact same thing whether the subdirectory is checked or not.

But if I tell it manually, it will remember until I close DvDfab.

I reckon I'll have to create a ISO directory and let my movies go there, if there isn't a way to stop Dvdfab from creating a ISO folder itself.

robert I: Ok, try this. Click the little green icon in the top right corner of DVDFab and go to "General" then tick the "Memorize User Interface Options", click "Ok", then close out of DVDFab completely and try it again. Hopefully this will do it for you, but I'm not positive.

Thanks, but not that don't work either. Actually I already had that checked when I looked.

So, am I to understand nobody else has this problem or am I one of the rare ones that does ISO files like this? I mean its rather simple really, either it will let me tell the program where I want it to go and remember, or it doesn't.

Please click the "disc with paper" icon when selecting the target to change the output directory of ISO file. "Memorize user interface options" at "General", common settings window, does not apply to this feature. You have to change it manually.

Note: If you do not do any change, the default output directory is: C:\Users\User Nmae\(My) Documents\DVDFab\ISO\xxx.iso, as you can see, there will be an ISO folder;

If you change it to anywhere else, it will not creat an ISO folder.

OK, well I'm not home right now, but I'm still trying to figure out if I am over looking something or it just won't remember the location.

Under general tab where it says output directory, I have changed it to where I want the ISO saved. It shows what I changed it too and holds it.

But then when I load the movie and click what I call the ISO icon, the one beside folder, the output path isn't exactly what I put in the output directory under general. It adds ISO and creates a ISO folder.

Now, as I said before, I can manually change it after it pops up asking if that is where I want it, and yes then it saves in the right place. I think that is where the cici Jia put a attachment telling me to change it.

Yes, I can do that but its not remembering because the next time it does the same thing. It creates a ISO folder even though I have the output directory changed under the general tab. So, is that not what its for? I mean sure I can change it when I get ready to copy the disc,but it just takes more time and seem strange it won't just save it.

Anyway, what I was use to happening with using "whatever" program, was just to tell where to put the ISO and it would do it after that. So far with DVDfab even though I have it under the general tab and also change it manually just before coping, the next time it still creates a ISO folder on its on. I reckon everyone is saying I have to manually tell it every time.

I guess I'll have to create a ISO directory on my PC and just add another shortcut instead of just putting them where I normally do.

I still don't understand why it creates a ISO folder though, even after I've changed it under the General tab.

Try pointing to just one of your hard drives instead of creating a directory to put your iso files in, this worked for me.

I decided to devote the entire hard drive to iso files.

When I did this it did not create a directory called iso instead my iso files were in the root directory or no directory at all simply c:\ movie name.iso

The ISO directory is created because the "Create directory" setting is turned on in Common Settings.
