Ok, it's not as simple as you guys think. The patin couffin driver does NOT get installed anymore as W&B said, so your simple explanation is not so simple. I'm sure Fengtao and the rest of the DVDFab team are trying as hard as they can to get this worked out. I can guarantee you that I'm having no problems whatsoever with any of the new versions, so it could still be something on your end. If it is an issue with DVDFab, it will be fixed ASAP. Please be patient.

I found out my registration needed to be renewed, so I bought a new registration key. I was able to use version 8.0.5.6. I downloaded the new version 8.0.6.1 and DVDFab would not even open. No error screen, no nothing. I was able to get 8.0.5.6 running again, but still not totally fixed.

it seems i am having the EXACT same issue as cgcarter72. so maybe we should start figuring out the similarities that he and i have in our computers (i.e. OS, antivirus, etc.). because it is doing the same thing on my end. 8.0.5.6 works perfectly as all versions before it did, but every version after that does the same thing. there is no error code or anything, it just simply does not do anything when i double click on the dvdfab icon. its like the computer is not recognizing it is even there.

now, here is an interesting twist. i updated my dvdfab on my desktop computer to version 8.0.6.1 and it worked perfectly!! so it is obviously something to do with a difference in my two computers. i'm not sure what all info you guys would need to know but here are a few differences:

          computer dvdfab 8.0.6.1. works on:
          hp pavilion desktop
          windows xp service pack 3
          avg free antivirus

computer dvdfab 8.0.6.1 will not work on:
          hp pavilion notebook
          windows 7 home premium
          bitdefender antivirus pro 2011

cgcarter72, do you share any of the same similarities as my laptop computer? hopefully this is a good start to helping these guys get this figured out quickly. at least we do know for a fact that the new versions do work on at least some computers. i'll check back soon... thanks for your hard work guys!!

            @ StephenAPSU

The computer that has BitDefender is the computer that DVDFab will not start. Either remove BitDefender or try in Game mode as that your problem and probably everyone elses problem as this has been reported in 2 other threads already

Yeah I'm running HP AMD Athlon II Quad Core with Windows 7 Home Premium and BitDefender AntiVirus. Not sure how to disable my BitDefender to see if that works.

Not sure as I have never used BitDefender but if an Anti-Virus program has something like that just for games then it has to make you think about if you actually want to continue using it. Someone in another post mentioned that Game mode is like having BitDefender Disabled again not sure if it safe to keep it in that mode as I have never used it.

I have only used McAfee, Norton, Zone Alarm, SpySweeper, CA, Avira, Eset, Kaspersky, Trend Micro and a few others that I not remember in the 5 years of using my own computers. I have finally found what I like and that is Microsoft Security Essentials along with Malwarebytes Full version and Windows Firewall.

Have not had any problems since and my computer is running much better as well

well, here's a funny twist. this morning i got on my computer and decided to give it one more try before i started fooling around with my bitdefender like all of you have been trying to say i should do because that is "obviously" the reason it quit working...although i have been using bitdefender antivirus the ENTIRE time i have been using the paid subscription service of dvdfab, and never once have i encountered any kind of problems with either program, and i download every single update dvdfab has including the beta versions. and what's funny is that bitdefender has been ranked by cnet as the #1 antivirus to have, even over kaspersky antivirus (and i actually pay good money yearly for my bitdefender program), so i find it odd that it would be to blame for dvdfab's sudden random mishap. so anyways i was about 30 seconds away from disabling my bitdefender antivirus by switching it to game mode and endangering my computer's safety, when i decided to give dvdfab 8.0.6.1 one more chance. i downloaded the newest update this morning and mysteriously it opened, unlike it has been doing these past 2 weeks. i didn't have to make one single change to my bitdefender antivirus either. so now i am just baffled. did someone sneak a fix into the 8.0.6.1 version? either way, those of you who changed your bitdefender settings to game mode might want to double check and try changing it back to normal mode now so that your computer will not be succeptible to viruses, etc. and then try again to see if dvdfab works now. good luck!!

p.s. i feel like i have done quite a bit of work on this topic. i don't even work for dvdfab and i feel like i have devoted enough time and labor to this issue that i should deserve some kind of thank you or pat on the back...no offense to AGJ, but i don't think it's fair when he gets all the thanks when all he did was come in and point the blame at someone else (bidefender) and actually recommend disabling your antivirus which is there to keep your computer safe and protect it from harm!! it was a lazy work-around (again no offense) and obviously it wasn't the correct solution, because i didn't even have to do that on my computer and dvdfab is all of a sudden working now. you should never sacrifice the safety of your computer to fix a mistake that programmers have made on an update to their program. it is their job to find a fix to their program, not blame other programs for the problem...

                      @StephenAPSU
What you should do is check what the update was that BitDefender did since your last try as it sounds more like BitDefender sneaked in an update with their regular updates since Anti-virus programs are updated on a per minute/hour basis depending on your settings

PS: I do not work for DVDFab either as I am just a user like you but I donate my personal time to helping out on the forum much like the rest of the members here who are helping out on a regular basis but even I knew after the first month of using DVDFab 5 years ago that it was my Anti-virus program causing the problems I had with DVDFab for one update and at that time it was McAfee

I Had the same problem, installed it and using the icon, the program would not open, but was running the "Task Manager-Windows. " It took a while to discover that Norton was responsible. I opened a ticket for DVDFab within the settings of Norton and it solved.
