      Help Us Help You

If you are posting about an operational problem with one of the DVDFab products, you will improve the speed and accuracy of the response by providing some information in the very first post that will probably be needed.

First, make note of any error codes or messages that appear in popup boxes and put them in your post. Information on error codes that appear in the DVDFab UI are captured in one of the logs we request below.

DVDFab keeps logs of its activities that supply basic system information and can help pinpoint where and when an error happened and help pinpoint the cause. The default location for these logs on most Windows systems is:

      C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

The logs are simple text files that can be opened with Windows Notepad if you want to read them. If the size exceeds the forum’s attachment size limit, you may need to delete older entries or copy and paste the relevant ones into a new file. The log files can be attached to a post using the "Manage Attachments" button below the editing box.

dvdfab_burn_vso.log Attach for all problems. The entries are time stamped with the most recent at the top.

dvdfab_burn_imgburn.log Attach if you have ImgBurn set as the burning engine and the problem concerns disc burning. Time stamped with the most recent at the bottom.

dvdfab_process.log Attach if DVDFab crashes and the crash report window does not come up or complete correctly or if internal error codes appear in the DVDFab window (“Task Failed…”). Time stamped, most recent at the bottom.

dvdfab_internal.log Attach for all problems. Time stamped, most recent at the bottom. Please edit to include only the most recent or relevant log session.

      Other Information:

Depending on the nature of the problem, it can help to know:
If this happens with all discs or just one
      Your operating system/CPU/memory configuration
If you are using external hard drives or optical drives
If you have made any recent changes to your OS or system hardware
If you have other DVD or BD software installed, particularly if recently added.

Posts with all the requested information will be answered first.

        Cn't writeData

        The details are:
        1. I select the source (previously written without a problem)
        2. I click Start
        3. DVDFfad detects the writeable media
        4. DVDfab issues a popup Stating: Process Failed

I have tried ver 6.2.1.8 and ver. 8.0.6.8.

Deleting the logs give us no idea as to what the problem would be, as there is no information in your new logs

I didn't actually delete the large logs, I re-named them. Here they are (1 zipped):

                  Hi rilgen

Your drive is in PIO mode, Open Fab Click the Green top right > General > make sure Check for DMA Automatically is Checked and also Click the Reset DMA to the right click OK and restart Fab, you may have to restart computer also and you should be good to go.

That's because you're writing to DVD+R (DL) discs... they're write-once discs (as are DVD-R (DL) discs).... once they've been written to and finalized, you can't add to them.

If you want something you can add to, you'll need to use DVD+(-)RW discs, which come with a whole set of their own problems (most of them compatibility, either with players or burners)...

If you want to include several items on the type of disc you're using, you'll have to save them, and burn all-at-once...

And I'm not even touching the kind of problems you're going to encounter if someone wants to borrow a disc just to watch it...

                      Can't Write Data

Pretty sure I'm using blank DVD+Rs. Unless Verbatim snuck some previously used onto the pile...

As CBR929 advised, your first order of business should be to get your burner out of PIO and into UDMA mode.

The Reset DMA tab in Fab should do it, but if not we'll go from there.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

rilgen was commenting that the logs were to big to attach in their post, not that they wanted to add more information to a disc

                            Can't write Data

Ok, I did as CBR929 advised, ensuring that 'Check for DMA Automatically' is checked. I also clicked 'Reset DMA' which did require a computer restart.

                            Still can't write.

Does this have anything to do with the different version on my PC?

                              Hi rilgen
Sorry to hear that you still can not write

Have you checked to make sure that you are still not in PIO mode???

You can also check your drives mode by going into device manager IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers click IDE controllers advanced settings and check for DMA, if they are IDE, but make sure you check both of your IDE channels.
For Sata in the same folder IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers Serial ATA controllers click the port that has your drive on it, and also check your DMA status.

Does this have anything to do with the different version on my PC?
I am not sure what you mean buy this, if you are referring to having different versions of Fab installed then I would have to say no, as I have 4-5 different versions installed.
You may try installing the latest one here and try this
