After trying to copy a dvd and it going SUPER slower then usual, I downloaded the newest version of dvdfab. That didn't seem to do the trick, so I did a DMA reset. Still going slow as heck. I have a paid version if that matters. I don't know what else to try? I can post a log but what sub folder under "log" do I need to click into?

We don't need to see a log yet... but I do have a couple of questions...
1.) Exactly how did you reset the DMA?? (through DVDFab? - through Windows Device Manager? - through BIOS? - not supported by all, but some will do it).
2.) Did you clean the 'business side' of the DVD before you started this process?
Please advise.

I'd recommend that you reset the DMA through Windows Device Manager... just to make sure... and clean the disk manually before you try again.. just to be sure.

Did you take a look at the logs to see how the drive is listed?
PIO or DMA.
Window device manager will also tell you what mode the drive is in.
I would determine that to be sure you have a DMA problem instead of a disc problem.

Yup.. Look at the burn logs, and scan down the logs (ignore the 11 or 12 line entries, they're not logs) and when you come across a longish one, see if you can find the words MODE:PIO (or DMA)
That'll tell you whether it's time to start looking at the disk itself.

Can anyone help? My husband pointed out that I might not have been clear that it's not when we're burning the dvds to blank disc. It's the ripping to the computer that's taking a long time.Last edited by Mtdewangel; 03-18-2011, 01:02 PM.

It's extremely difficult to offer any help, or even form any kind of a semi-intelligent opinion of what might be wrong, when all you've said so far is that the computer seems to be working slowly.
I took it for granted that you were talking about the rip process when there was no mention of burning issues, and I guess I wasn't wrong.
I asked that the source DVD be cleaned before a rip attempt, and was informed that the disk was clean. How was this determined?
It was asked that you advise the mode the DVD drive was in, and your answer implies that you don't know how to determine this. A burn log was requested, and all I've seen so far is an excuse about Mar 10 being the latest log available, but still no log has been submitted.
We don't know if you're running a lappy, what the O/S is, or what version of DVDFab you're running (aside from what has already been asked for).
When you can offer some more substantial information than you already have, we'll see what we can do.

I can not find the MODE you're speaking of. You informed me to look for a log that is longer then 11-12 as that isn't a real log. Well the only "long" one is dated March 10th and that isn't the day I had the problem. Sorry to hear you find that an excuse. I will post what my computer has logged up to March 10th which is the most recent "long" log.
I have also asked if someone can help me reset the DMA through the Window Device Manager as I have no idea where that is on my computer or how to find it.
Any and all help is much appreciated.

No DarthCopier was not being rude he was stating the facts.
Simply wiping the disc may not clean it.
Looks can be deceiving.

Your DMA does not need to be reset..
From your log...........
2011-03-10 10:35:17 Info Ultra DMA mode 2 (ATA33)
So the problem is most likely a dirty or defective disc.
