Since he states he has the same problem with several different dvds is it possible his drive is failing?

Do you have other drives you can try the movie in?

The movies play fine. I just tried Bruce Almighty and the same problem. DVDFab will not open any DVD. I do not have another drive to try. I am using my laptop. It starts to read the disk, and then stops for some reason; only on this program.

The drive is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N

And by the way my last post was not meant to by slander towards DVDFab.

those filters look fine but do you have anything set to AutoPlay when a DVD is inserted to your DVD drive. Check your AutoPlay settings to find out as I noticed you have Intervideo installed from the filters and it usually set to AutoPlay DVDs and that can cause DVDFab to crash like this

Actually I was wrong as this filter needs to be removed

                          Code:
                          Filter Name: Iviaspi
                          File Name: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\iviaspi.sys
                          File Version: 1, 0, 0, 0 [1.0.0.0]
                          File Description: InterVideo ASPI Shell
                          Product Name: InterVideo ASPI Shell
                          Product Version: 1, 0, 0, 0 [1.0.0.0]

It a bad filter so you should uninstall the program that installed it and then use ImgBurn to check the filters again to make sure the filter is gone. If it not gone then use ImgBurn to remove the filter

Agree with AGJ, I'd delete Iviaspi.
If you have problems deleting it, follow the troubleshooting guide by MS to delete upper and lower filters:

This article describes a problem with CD or DVD drives not work, or is missing, or not recognized after installing or uninstalling programs.

Scroll down the page to XP.

                            You still may encounter problems.
You can run this registry patch:
                            cdgone.zip

There are a couple other things to try, but one of these should do the trick.

I'd also think seriously about disabling autoplay.
For XP, one of the best and simplest ways is to use
                            TweakUI.exe

It's one of the MS PowerToys (scroll down the column on the right to find it)

                            Hopefully, this will do it.
After deleting Iviasp, you might consider uninstalling your burner from your IDE controller.
On reboot, XP will recognize it, and reinstall it, assigning the appropriate drivers.
This way, you minimize any I/O conflicts

Thank you for spending the time to help with my problem. Instead of going further, I uninstalled DVDFab and reinstalled it. It seems to be working fine again. Maybe there was a setting I changed before that was causing a problem. I really do not know. I did have the autoplays turned off before I requested help. Sorry I did not get back sooner but I was tied up with work.

Again thank you for yor help and hopefully everything will be working fine going forward. Your support help was very good and attentitive to my problem.

                              Sincerely,

                              Ed
