Okay, played around with DVDFab a little bit and found that it will pass the initial detect if I do "Main Movie" or "Customize" (and selecting all the video/audio/subtitles). So there is that at least.

Yup... that'll work...did you ever try using Imgburn in stand-alone mode to burn those files??

Still burning and will check afterwards but my concern is that the total size is smaller if I choose "Customize" and check all the options than if I do "Full Disc". Hoping that all the menus and such will work properly.

Okay, burns are good, I'm just not clear why I can't burn as full disc and have to manually checkmark all the "files".

OK...To tackle that, we'll need to see one of your burn logs.

            Please go to C:\Documents & Settings\Your Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log.

I am specifically looking for a Log that starts with either 'Write Successful' or 'Write Failed'... there will probably be a number of about 9 line entries in that log that aren't of much use to us - don't need to see any of those.

That is what I suspected, I can trip an error 100 everytime if I try to run a full disc rip using full disc mode and all you need is write data mode no need to pass the files through Fab again.

I think DC suspects what I do that the original rip is DVD5 quality and not DVD9.

That's exactly what I suspected...the log would have confirmed it...

As the burn never actually began, there is no info in my logs as to the nature of the failure. I reviewed all my logs and found nothing besides what I posted regarding failed burns.

Here's the entirety of my logs from yesterday (which shows the subsequent successful burns as well):

A file on my hard drive, or, more specifically, a folder with the files created by DVDfab during a DVD rip to hard drive.

Which folder? The one labeled Video_TS? The one labeled AUDIO_TS? Or the folder holding both of those sub-folders?? Or another folder?

The one holding both (although I think in most cases, I just kept the files and moved them to a single folder with the DVD name). Never had a problem with them before as I can still burn DVD-5s the same way, as well as play those hard drive DVDs in a DVD player app.

In your post #23, you pasted an Imgburn log for a successful DL burn... do you have any of those for a failed burn?

What you are doing seems to be OK, and you shouldn't be getting any failures, especially with Imgburn... (or if you are, the logs from Imgburn will tell us more than the VSO logs...)

What you see from my Imgburn log is the full log. There are no log entries for the failed burns in that log as I don't even think it went to the burn stage - it's failing a preliminary check which seems to be related to the "detecting writing media" phase. I will try posting some screen shots when I get home if it makes it any clearer where the failure is occurring. It's happening a few seconds after I hit "Start".
