New and I am lost

PLEASE HELP!!! So I am having trouble figuring out this. I just downloaded and bought a dvd to dvd unlimited lic. I've put my reg key in. Well I wanted to try it out. So I put in one of my daughters movies press the start dvd fab and nothing happened. Tried 5 other movies and still nothing. Am I missing something

Where did you d/l your copy from? Also try right clicking the DVDFab icon and click 'run as admin'.

I downloaded it from there site. (I have dvd fab 7 if that makes a difference) I can open it to the welcome to dvd fab (where it has all the options for license, secure order, renew registration, etc.) But when I hit start dvd fab on the bottom right corner, it closes it. I tried and it does the same thing

Tough to say what's going on without specifics.
For eg., when you said,

You may simply have the wrong application.
When you click on Buy Now on DVDFab.com, you are taken to DVDfab.net where you actually make the purchase.
However, you need to download the app from DVDFab.com or right here on the forum

The DVDfab.net link will download the non-css app which will not decrypt.

Please do the following...exactly and we'll go from there...

Download Fab from this link:

(Please save it to your hdd and then right click on the installer and run as administrator)

Open Fab and click on the ? mark icon on the upper right of the opening screen.
Click on About on the dropdown.
Does the DVD to DVD license display Never Expire ?

Pop a disc in, does the application open?

what OS are you using? Are there permissions setup for different users? did you install and login as admin? when you look at the task manager (assuming windows) do you see dvdfab still running as a process even after it appears to have shutdown?

if you don't know about task manager, hit ctrl-alt-del, and then click task manager. Then click processes tab. try to launch dvd fab. before you do anything else verify you see the process running. then click through to start dvdfab. if it still goes away then look at the processes while this is all happening to verify that it is still running or if it stops. if it doesnt stop and you notice multiple processes called dvdfab.exe then you can either end the processes and try again, or reboot your computer.

let us know what happens.

Maineman I downloaded it thru dvdfab.com. It said I had a thirty day trial but I couldn't do anything. So I asumed I had to purchase the whole thing in order to do anything. So on the bottom in the reg it has secure order now. That's where I purchased the lic. Under the options it says DVD to DVD then right next to it it has the lic (my name & lic #) then it says enable yes and under udate expire time it says never. On The their page for more info on dvd to dvd the first screen shot. I don't even have that one yet.(maybe that's why I can't do anything) Right now it has the monkey in the top left corner in the blue part it says welcome to dvdfab. I wish I could copy and show you the screen but it won't even let me do that. If I uninstall and reinstall will that mess up my lic.
Goonie I tried and it just drops out of my task manager. I can't get into admin cuz apparently my comp guy put a password and I don't know it. But Under my name it says I have admin priv.

I found a pic what it looks like. On the tutorial of how to reg (just the new version) When I entered the reg key it said Thank you the product will be restarted to enable reg version. All that happens is it shows my lic but am still on the same screen. On the bottom of how to reg #3 it says:
Please click ? button then choose 'About' to check DVDFab version and to see if you registered successfully. But there is none

Sorry for your problem.
I'm having trouble following what you're saying.

No, uninstalling has no effect on your license.
Please retrieve your regkey again. Do you have an outside email server...like gmail, hotmail? Also save it to your hdd, a flash drive or cd, etc.

Now uninstall Fab with the Fab uninstaller.
D/L and run CCleaner
and be certain to tick on Old Prefetch data under Advanced.

Now have windoz search for any traces of Fab and delete them.

I have hotmail, I can't open it from administrative because it says my password is incorrect. But under my account. It shows I have admin privleges
I called my comp guy and left a message. I have Windows XP Pro
I ran the cleaner and samething

Hopefully your comp guy can straighten out your password/administration privileges.
This may or may not be part of the problem, but we need to cross it off the list.

In the interim, any other burn software on your rig?...
in particular Nero InCD, Roxio, Sonic, etc...?

Windows movie maker. I even tried creating a passowrd and tring that way. It still shut down. I've seen in other posting that there are a couple people in here having the same problem. I know this is off the subject but, I had a guy pm me and had three ms in my out box now they are gone. I'm on other forums and they don't just diaspper like that.

Did you install the latest released Version of DVDFab to see if that fixes this problem. Here is link to that update below

You're correct, they don't just disappear.
The only person capable of deleting these pms is admin.
Rest assurred, only forum violations would cause him to take such action.
I've seen him clean up pms from spammers in the past

AGJ right now I have the 7.0 version that came out on 3/26/10

Is there a was I can install the 6.2.1.8 version to see if that will make it work, until the new one is out of beta. When I click on the sticky link to 6.2.1.8 it goes to dvdfabs website but brings up the new one that came on 3/26/10.

Sure you can, but you'll need the installer.
When you D/L the application, do you select run or do you save it first?
Recommend you do the latter as Fengtao does not archive versions for D/L and you never know when you'll want/need to revert to a previous version.

We recommend keeping current, but I keep old the installers back to Fab 2.xxx.
Sometimes a version like 4.1.2.0 will work on problematic or older flicks whereas the latest version stumbles.
You can keep previous major releases of Fab on your system, ie., Fab 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 as they all are installed in separate folders and are independent of one another.

You just never know about this stuff, sometimes it just seems like voodoo....
