The DVDs probably need to be given a wipe to remove the fingerprints on them or using media that not good. WOuld know for sure if ImgBurn was used and a Burn log for that posted

Jasper,
I just can't hold myself from responding to your earlier comments. I just want you to imagine situation where you have no driving skills, but you saw really nice, brand new, shiny Ford and you really want it. You go to a dealer, and salesman gave you a ride, and you like it, and you paid your beloved 30 grand for it.... And now you are sitting on a parking lot and bitching that this new car doesn't taking you home, and you are too old to learn how to drive, and you are writing letter to Henry Ford telling him that he's POS and you paid for his car and now sitting in this new car like an old idiot, burning gas, and car aren't taking you anywhere.... Ridiculous you would say... Right?
How's this situation different? Have you visit DVDFab website and read numerous beautifully assembled manuals and instructions, or "Best Practices" stickies on this forum? No, you did not. Yet, when we trying to help you, you are bitching about.... you've got the picture. DVDFab is an awesome program, but it's not idiot-proof, nor "not-a-geek"-proof. Just be patient with us and we'll get you there.

@maineman
burn logs are at the beginning of post #5.
@Jasper
It's obvious that your problem is in a link between computer and drive. Is it software or hardware - I'm not sure.
However, let's start with software that directs your content to burn and manages burning process. VSO burning engine have prove itself as not the best one, and we all recommending use of ImgBurn. Please install and set up ImgBurn following instructions here:
it have a good step-by-step instructions with video. I will give you 75% that will solve your problem. In case of other 25%, come back here and we will continue troubleshooting.

Thanks, but unfortunately there are no burn logs in what you posted.
The burn logs should be contained in something that looks like:
dvdfab_burn_vso.log.
Have you looked to see if the files you ripped are intact?. Will they playback from the hdd with a software player?
Please rip an original disc and choose as your Target a location on your hdd.
Check the files.

And we appreciate where you're coming from Jasper, but please understand, we have no magic wands or pixie dust.
I'm 61 and certainly no techno-wizard or geek...just a self-taught shade-tree mechanic who's been around a bit
We're happy to try to help, but
the devil's in the details.
We need something besides "it won't work".
Please post a couple of burn logs, just copy and paste 'em right here.
These will give us a great deal of useful data and who knows....perhaps enough?
The default location is:

sorry
I appreciate where you are coming from, and thanks for your help, BUT, at my age, and not being a "GEEK" I just want a product that actually does what it says on the box, after all, that is what persuades me to part with my money, rather than spend hours searching for a "crack" etc to do what I want. Lets look at it from my point of view, monetary outlay to achieve a desired result, and say that one copy of the DVD in question is £15, and the copy software is a further £30.
(lets not mess about and cost up the blanks!)
So at this stage, I could have easily purchased a second copy of the required DVD for my "Loft" and still been well in pocket!
I cost my time at £15 per hour! so, frustrations alone for a minute, it wont be long before it is costing me money!
Anyway, in further answer to your question, this is just it, no messages, all looked ok, but disk will just not play!
Checked all the settings, and from the point of view of the old software at least, nothing has changed1
My DVD writer is a LG GSA E60L external, has worked just fine for a couple of years, and will still happily burn my "Band Disks" "labels" using lightscribe, so cant be ( I assume) the laser etc.
If we can get this sorted fairly quickly, I will happily pay to activate my "30 Day Trial" version of DVD fab, but, having just lost money on the other programme, not in a rush, lol. At least there is a "forum" here that appears to want to help, and there used to be with Clonedvd, but the new owners appear to have wiped all the old posts, and the new foreum only has a handful of posts, nothing of any help!!!

Well to help you out we need the log files along with some more info so read what below and post the info mentioned to your next post reply to this thread
Help Us Help You
If you are posting about an operational problem with one of the DVDFab products, you will improve the speed and accuracy of the response by providing some information in the very first post that will probably be needed.
First, make note of any error codes or messages that appear in popup boxes and put them in your post. Information on error codes that appear in the DVDFab UI are captured in one of the logs we request below.
DVDFab keeps logs of its activities that supply basic system information and can help pinpoint where and when an error happened and help pinpoint the cause. The default location for these logs on most Windows systems is:
C:\Documents and Settings\your username\My Documents\DVDFab\Log
The logs are simple text files that can be opened with Windows Notepad if you want to read them. If the size exceeds the forum’s attachment size limit, you may need to delete older entries or copy and paste the relevant ones into a new file. The log files can be attached to a post using the "Manage Attachments" button below the editing box.
dvdfab_burn_vso.log Attach for all problems. The entries are time stamped with the most recent at the top.
dvdfab_burn_imgburn.log Attach if you have ImgBurn set as the burning engine and the problem concerns disc burning. Time stamped with the most recent at the bottom.
dvdfab_process.log Attach if DVDFab crashes and the crash report window does not come up or complete correctly or if internal error codes appear in the DVDFab window (“Task Failed…”). Time stamped, most recent at the bottom.
dvdfab_internal.log Attach for all problems. Time stamped, most recent at the bottom. Please edit to include only the most recent or relevant log session.
Other Information:
Depending on the nature of the problem, it can help to know:
If this happens with all discs or just one
Your operating system/CPU/memory configuration
If you are using external hard drives or optical drives
If you have made any recent changes to your OS or system hardware
If you have other DVD or BD software installed, particularly if recently added.
Posts with all the requested information will be answered first.

problems with other copy stuff etc
well, where do I start, not even sue I am in the right forum, but possibly the mods will move it if not!
For over 10 years I have purchased a couple of DVD`s a week, copied them for backup purposes, and put the original in my loft, have a lot up there now, lol.
I have always used "Clone DVD" and have seen various "owners" always used the registered owner option and paid for all updates as required, and have to say, it has done what I required!
HOWEVER, a few months ago I started getting disks that for some reason would not copy, so left the "Originals" in my ever expanding collection!
I always down loaded the latest release, and when it became "version 5" did the same, and that is where my problems began!!! I purchased "Clash Of the Titans" and tried to back it up, long story, but ended in half a cake tin of beer coasters, finally got it working, but for the money it had cost I could have actualy purchased a back up copy for my "Archive" (My wife works in a local Supermarket so even get a discount, lol)
This weekend gone, I purchased, "Shutter Island" and again tried to copy it, More bloody beer coasters! Have for days tried to contact their support, and finally got the reply that a NEW version was available, and I had to pay $35.oo to down load it! Oh well I thought, will be worth it in the long run, How wrong was I! Downloaded it, paid, still no joy, contacted support, and was given a link to yet another new download, did that, two more blanks, and nothing else.
So, out of desperation, (I am 55 yrs ols and a slow learner, lol) I decided to search the Internet, found an article that said there was "new copy protection" on this actual DVD, and that "DVDfab" would work! Eurika!!!
Downloaded it, tried it, more coasters, looked a bit closer, found an even newer version(only a day old) tried that, and one more light scribeable coaster later, have given up. Decided that for all the time, money and effort I have spent over the last few days, best thing I can do is line up all the beer coasters, drink beer untill they all have an empthy bottle on them, and wait for some kind person to tell me exactly where to go next! (if I die of alcahol Poisoning in the mean time it wont be any great loss the way I feel at the moment!)Tags: None
