I just installed the beta along side my working 8.0.0.5 version just to see what new features we can look forward to.
I started by opening two instances of 8.0.1.5b in Clone mode and stuck a known working DVD into my first DVD drive. (I know the DVD works as I just used 8.0.0.5 to back it up to an ISO the night before.) Well, each instance found the DVD and each opened its "Opening DVD Source" dialog box. This is where I hit "Cancel" on the second instance to stop it from scanning the same drive simultaneously as the first instance. A few seconds later the dialog disappeared from the first instance (much sooner than it normally does), but the DVD did not appear as the Source (like it normally does) in that instance.
I cycled the tray to force the drive to rescan the DVD and the same thing happened. On my third attempt, I let both instances attempt to open the DVD without hitting "Cancel" on the second instance and this time the "Opening DVD Source" box disappeared from the second instance and the first instance continued to scan... and it scanned... and scanned some more. It was a minute later and my DVD drive no longer showed any activity, yet the "Opening DVD Source" box was still showing that it was scanning and scanning and scanning. I let it go for another minute or two and finally canceled it. I tried a second known working DVD and the same thing happened.
I would just like to reiterate that these are DVDs that read perfectly fine both within and outside of DVDFab. They are in immaculate condition (zero scratches, little to no dust particles) and I just used my working version 8.0.0.5 literally the night before to successfully read and back them up to ISOs.
I'm not sure if any others have experienced this issue... from the topics so far, it appears maybe not.
For reference, I'm using Windows XP with Lite-on iHAS424-98 drives.
