Can't get beta to open DVD source

I just installed the beta along side my working 8.0.0.5 version just to see what new features we can look forward to.

I started by opening two instances of 8.0.1.5b in Clone mode and stuck a known working DVD into my first DVD drive. (I know the DVD works as I just used 8.0.0.5 to back it up to an ISO the night before.) Well, each instance found the DVD and each opened its "Opening DVD Source" dialog box. This is where I hit "Cancel" on the second instance to stop it from scanning the same drive simultaneously as the first instance. A few seconds later the dialog disappeared from the first instance (much sooner than it normally does), but the DVD did not appear as the Source (like it normally does) in that instance.

I cycled the tray to force the drive to rescan the DVD and the same thing happened. On my third attempt, I let both instances attempt to open the DVD without hitting "Cancel" on the second instance and this time the "Opening DVD Source" box disappeared from the second instance and the first instance continued to scan... and it scanned... and scanned some more. It was a minute later and my DVD drive no longer showed any activity, yet the "Opening DVD Source" box was still showing that it was scanning and scanning and scanning. I let it go for another minute or two and finally canceled it. I tried a second known working DVD and the same thing happened.

I would just like to reiterate that these are DVDs that read perfectly fine both within and outside of DVDFab. They are in immaculate condition (zero scratches, little to no dust particles) and I just used my working version 8.0.0.5 literally the night before to successfully read and back them up to ISOs.

I'm not sure if any others have experienced this issue... from the topics so far, it appears maybe not.

For reference, I'm using Windows XP with Lite-on iHAS424-98 drives.

Where are log files? Would like the Internal and Process log files so if a problem the developers will see if the logs show

Yes, it seems I forgot to include the logs. Sorry, first time doing this... so please bear with me.

I tried it again today and get the same results though very intermittently. Upon further research, this appears to happen when I start multiple instances of DVDFab without a DVD in the drive. Upon inserting a DVD when both start to read the same source drive at the same time, I cancel the second instance.... the other continues to read but sometimes fails.

Here's a shot of the log when that occurs:

Not sure what other information you need or if that is enough log information to go on. Again... this issue seems to be very intermittent... I'm trying to track down if it's something that happens all the time or just with specific DVDs or what the story is. I'll post more info if/when I get any.

I did some further testing and the issue occurs as I stated in my last reply. If I have multiple instances open with no DVDs in any drives, the first DVD I insert has a good chance to exhibit this problem. (I will admit I didn't test much in a single instance... I have multiple drives so 99% of the time I will be using multiple instances.) This particular time it appeared to "stall" while trying to open the DVD, but I did leave it going.... I stepped away from the computer for a couple minutes and when I came back, it had successfully opened the source DVD, but the log indicates why it was having so much trouble:

This is another known working DVD that I've never had any problems with before (as I can prove by my logs). In fact, I frequently use it as a "test" DVD for no other reason than I have used it many times before so I know what results to expect... this is not an expected result.

Let me know if there's any more information you might need in order to fix this. I'll see what I can do to provide what I can.
