[note train your dragon worked fine on 6202]

Got IR2 done by switching to our Dell laptop with XP using the beta version

don't usually use it as it has no drive space.

only problem I had with it was I had to remove the 8gig USB SD mem stick that was in the computer. Some reason while DVDfab was running, the computer could not read the stick anymore kinda, as and kept trying to auto run the said drive [SD sticks have that U3 program that loads] which it coudln't see and it ended up getting buggy after a while, like it couldn't read it but knew it was there so it kept trying, even after hitting cancel.

was a failed to load autorun error, or something with 3 options,
retry ignore cancel , it was late so I didn't think to grab a screen cap.

Have you tried to install Fab on your C: drive as suggested by signals to see if this changes anything???

I also have a thumb drive that uses the U3 system and it could be problamatic (sp?) for DVDFab, since it shows up as both a removable storage drive and an additional optical drive. both with their own drive letters.

gator295: I would disable autorun for all your devices anyways, I do. Not only because its annoying but also because it conflicts with things that are running and the fact that a virus can exploit the autorun feature and latch on to your comp from an infected flash drive, external hard drive, etc.

yep, even changed from fat32 to ntfs

the program does not work, wont read any dvd to clarfyi it even more.
starts to read and just stops. Same exe file was used to install it on xp and worked.

though 6202 still works and did train ur dragon still just fine, and its new.

Title should be change to reflect problesm with window 2000 since its all DVDs it has a problem with. only though it was IR as it wouldn't work in 6202 so I had to upgrade.

Still no wookie with 8.0.2.9 on win2k pro
                same reinstall error in log

same thing, box comes up to start to read a DVD, only moves a tiny bit then just closes.

Any problem with LG GH22LP20 2.0firmware lightscribe drives and DVDfab?

I'm using an LG GH22LP20 with firmware 1.02 and have no issues with DVDFab but I only use it as a reader and use my Pioneer or Samsung as the burner. The times I have used it as a burner had no problems so I would assume newer firmware would work better than older firmware

Well Im out of ideas, wish I had kept up more on updates so I could pin point it more on which version change that made it stop working on my win2k computer.

all I know is 6.2.0.2 still works fine [use it still], 8.0.2.2 n beyond no wookie on 2k.

wish I had some 7x just to test.
Im sure it could narror down the code change that happened for a possiable fix.

                      Here you go gator295

I was thinking another thing you might try is download and run Revo Uninstaller, select the advanced uninstall and delete all registry and leftover files. Even though I love CCleaner you might have a better result with this I don't know.

Hope you get it working again

                        Hey Gator295,

I've been following this thread as I have been having a very similar issue that as yet is still unresolved. I'm wondering how similar our problems are... Do you have any ISO or Video TS files of DVD's on your computer? If you do try running 8 and selecting one of these as your source and see if it runs. Mine ran fine when I used one of these as a source but still screws up when trying to use a DVD as the source. The target shows both my burners but once it fails to read I can't get either of the burners to show up under the source drop down menu.
There was a guy that said he was running 2K and version 8 and I think it was in this thread. Maybe we should talk to him about his settings and see if he didn't have to do some messing around to get 8 to work on his Win2K machine.

Latest will not open a ISO either

Well I guess they must not give a crap about win2000 support anymore, to many bigger issues as sending info on which ones work and wich one don't seem to fall on deaf ear of the devlopers, when that info should easily clue them in onto the coding problem and what changed to make it stop working, I have been keeping them updated by email since this is just a users support forum.

were up to 8.0.3.2 and it still doesn't work.
The program will not read any DVD.

Almost feels like they are worried I won't pay my $10 license upgrade for this next year on Nov 22nd so they are ignoring me. [and no IM not talking about folks in this user support forum, which is not the offical support contact.]

Microsoft doesn’t give a crap about Windows 2000 any longer, even the extended support time ran out 7.13.2010. You’ll find more and more programs are not going to run because it lacks some necessary runtime components to load the ASP. Even the latest C++ redistributable package is not supported, check it here.
I loved W2K I’m still unconvinced it wasn’t the best OS Microsoft ever come up with but its time has come and gone. I grudgingly upgraded finally.
How to post the internal log

Hi gator295 If you could post your Fab internal logs there is something missing in yours and member Yoder logs
Also check your path player settings
Open Fab Click the Green top right > Protection > Path Player make sure it is set to Always Enable if not click Always Enable click OK restart Fab and try again.
                              Thanks

I have to say that 90312's assessment hit the nail on the head.
I don't know if there's more that the Fab team can do here...perhaps and then again, perhaps not, but there's no doubt about MS not giving a crap...
