DVD Ripper AV/Sync and Pixelation ZUNE

Same issue here with V8. Pixelation and audio still out of sync. Bought Michael Clayton while on vacation. Ripped to HDD using V8 and converted to WMV9 using Zune profile.

One thing I did notice...Even though I selected a 2 pass conversion, only 1 pass was done. A second pass never occurred.

Here's another example of pixelation from mine.

Actually the screen shot you have says 2 pass was done as it is all in one conversion now and not seperated. Can you post the logs located in start-documents-dvdfab-logs and also give 1 pass a try with all A/V codecs set to software

Will do. However, isn't 18 minutes REALLY fast for a 2 pass? With Version 6 they usually take roughly an hour with same PC and settings.

Yes that is too fast but did you try with pathplayer disabled when it only took 18 minutes

I did not have pathplayer disbaled for my first V8 conversion. I now have it disabled and all codecs set to "software". I'm currently attempting another conversion with a single pass. I'll let you know the results when it's done.

I converted the same file using 6218 with no issues. I did have pathplayer disbled though.

          Here's the logs you reqwuested:

With pathplayer disabled and 1 pass conversion using same other settngs, pixelation is better, but a/v still over half a second off by the end of the movie.

Give this link a read http://forum.dvdfab.com/showthread.php?t=7639 as another member had a similar problem and changed the bit rate and the picture was much better

I will try a higher bit rater, but that sems like a band aid to me. I've been using an 850 bit rate for hundreds of movies with no issue to keep the file sizes small. Why should I have to increase my file size now? I paid for a product that was working perfectly for my needs and now it does not.

I'll post back this evening after I try again with a higher bit rate.

Sanger, I am using a 2251 bit rate. Not sure I can get much higher. Every video I created yesterday, regardless of movie and settings using the WMV10 WMA5.1 profile has yielded a significantly pixelated video with av sync issues. I have asked before if anyone can create a good, in-sync, un-pixelated video with this profile and have yet to see a positive response. This is since version 7 was released and now with version 8. I have been able to create a good video with other non-WMV profiles but FAB is supposed to create WMV videos and did in the past. Can someone, perhaps a moderator create a good file with the mentioned profile?

If can not offer help for Sanger then do not post in thread. Posts that are not related to helping with problem will be either moved or deleted which ever is easier. That is why I moved his post and relevant posts from the thread you created.

My results are darn near perfect. Please explain in detail what you are doing, frame resolution, bit rate and audio. I'll try to reproduce your results. See mine below:

AGJ, your post directed us to a note about increasing the bit rate. I was letting Sanger know what bitrate I was using, quite high I am sure you would agree, and that it provided NO benefit to the pixelization issue. How is that not helping?

Is this a WMV file? Using the WMV10 WMA5.1 profile. 2-pass, bit rate 2251, frame resolution 720*X depending on the video crop required, audio 5.1 increased to 135%. Please post back if you are able to get an in-sync, un-pixelated WMV file. Thanks.

                          This is really getting frustrating.

                          Pathplayer disabled
                          all codecs set to software

Settings per screen shots below. Result was no pixelation...but horrible a/v sync. Audio lags behind video over half a second by the end of the movie again...

I do NOT want to have to run my bit rate that high. I get great results with version 6218 using pathplayer disabled, 2 pass conversion, bit rate 850, and all other settings as per screen shots in V8 above. I also had bad results (same issue as V8) with every version of 7.xxx I tried.

                            hi,

I have done one test for this, I can repeat this only in 2pass mode, in one pass encode, there are not any problem, I will check it.

                            thanks.

I have noticed that 1-pass seems to work okay, but 2-pass does not work, and produces the pixilation as described. In addition, if you change the default frame resolution, it changes the fixed bitrate to a much lower setting. It never did this in the past - maybe others aren't noticing the change and are encoding at a lower bitrate than expected?
