Hi CBR929 - thx for your suggestion. However, I have already tried that - same result. Audio is out of sync at the end of the movie.

I just bought the entire FABDvd package last week and I'm having the same problem with lots of DVDs on Windows. The DVDs I'm having problems with are mostly older DVDs like Monte Python and the Holy Grail. I couldn't figure out a how to fix the problem so I tried AnyDVD HD with makeMkv and so far all of these DVDs that I had problems with in FABDvd are burning just fine with no sync problems at all. So, I know these movies can be converted correctly, I just don't know how to do it in FABDvd.

I've found a lot of discussion about this online, but no solution seems to exist. That probably means there is a bug. Hopefully, the developers are working on it. I really like the FABDvd interface and it works well for my blue ray discs, but I think I'll probably have to buy AnyDvd to rip my old DVDs if DVDFab doesn't come up with a fix before my AnyDvd trial is up.

I too have the same issue.
I first DVDCopy to an ISO (using clone). Then I DVDRip to an avi, and I get somewhere about a half second or less sync issue. It's not dramatic, but lip-synch is clearly off and very distracting.

I've done several DVD conversions, and they are all the same. So far I have done Monsters(2001), Finding Nemo (2003) and the Latest Tinker Bell movie (2012) and they all have the same issue. (No, these movies are for my daughter, not myself )

I've used the generic.avi.xvid.audiocopy profile. Frame rate is the original rate (23.976). I use two-pass conversion with about a 0.20 - 0.25 bits/pixel bit rate. The video on my TV (through a Boxee Box player) looks great - it's just the sound synch that is off.

I'm trying again with converting the audio to mp3, and I'll update afterwards.

Ok, so same synch issue (at least with Monsters Inc) when I use audio conversion as well. I used mp3, Dolby Pro Logic2 at 192kbps.

Try one pass too. Just to be sure.

Just tried re-copying it, but this time by using the .vob files rather than .iso.
Ripped again (from vob copy) with the generic.avi.xvid.audiocopy and the same unsynched audio issue is still there.
Using the Boxee, I can force an offset of audio during playback. With this particular rip, I had to delay audio about 16 milliseconds to get things in synch.

Ok, tried with single-pass rather than two-pass, and still the same thing.

I'll try a fresh Rip tomorrow and post the logs.

This was incorrect information. I meant to say 16 'points'. Each point is 25ms, so the adjustment required was 400ms (almost half a second).
This may seem small, but about 100ms is the normal tolerance before it becomes distracting to the viewer.

I decided to try another profile: generic.mp4.h264.mp3. this one looks great. The sound and video are right in sync. This implies that the vob and/or iso files were copied/created correctly (a possible suspicion I had), and that it's the xvid rip that is problematic.

So, I guess I can stick to the mp4 conversions as a work around. But clearly there is something wrong with the xvid ones that I would like to see addressed/resolved.

On a side note, I also tried the generic.avi.h264.audiocopy and generic.avi.h264.mp3 previously. I'm not sure about the sound sync, but the video was so bad that I switched over to the xvid codec instead. I thought since h264 was newer it would be better, but maybe it's better applied to small mobile devices or something.

                            Here are the mp4 logs:

Same problem here... just bought Bluray ripper and Video Converter for MAC and some of my rips have this issue, it seems to be the ones with many different "ts" files (don't know if that is the correct term). It doesn't matter if I rip with MakeMkv and then use Video Converter, the issue is the same.
