No subtitles - DVDFab Media Player 3.2.0.0

    Hi,
I'm trying the player, however subtitles of all kinds are not being displayed - embedded in MKV or BD ISO or external *.srt fie
on the subtitles settings, font selection is grayed out and no font is selected, however I can select charset - see attached

    Please advice
    Thanks!

Have you tried right clicking on the Media Player screen ?
Go to Subtitle & select the language available that you want.I believe the "Default" if off .

The font drop down is grayed out for me also.
My subtitle window is the same as yours' .
I tried some of the different charsets but they didn't change anything.
The only setting that made any change for me was size .
I went smaller by a little and the font size was smaller.

I only had a DVD that had subtitles handy but those displayed correctly.
I should have some .mkvs or .mp4s around somewhere that have subtitles .
I didn't have time to look for them today but I will see if I can find them and check to see if the subtitles display.

Hopefully someone will post a solution.

The most important thing to me is *.srt files to be display properly

I created a new .MP4 and a new .MKV with DVDFab DVDRipper.
Both show the subtitles in DVDFab Media Player.
However the subtitle settings in DVDFab Media Player don't do anything no matter how I set them.
The only control that works on subtitles is a right click then subtitle off or the language selected.
The font pull down is grayed out.
The charset can be set to several settings but even when I select Chinese the subtitles are still in English.
The subtitles stay at the bottom even when Top is selected.
The color choice makes no change from white.

Did you try external *.srt fie?

                Hi,
Can anyone confirm that subtitles using external *.srt files works (or not)?
this is a deal breaker for me

                Thanks!

*.srt is independent file - text based and will never have *.idx with it
*.sub + *.idx is based on graphic presentation

I converted the srt flle to SUB + IDX using AVIAddXSub and the subtitles were displayed, however....this is very unconvinient

                  ex:
                  Annabelle.Creation.2017.1080p.BluRay.REMUX.AVC.Atm os-EPSiLON.mkv
                  Annabelle.Creation.2017.1080p.BluRay.REMUX.AVC.Atm os-EPSiLON.srt

                  example of the content:

                  1
                  00:00:45,282 --> 00:00:46,902
                  îæøç åîòøá"

                  2
                  00:00:47,282 --> 00:00:50,672
                  ìà çùãðéí æä ëìôé æä"
                  .áâìì ùàðå çîåùéí

                  3
                  00:00:51,362 --> 00:00:52,831
                  àðçðå çîåùéí"

I realized that after I reread your original post and deleted all the subsequent posts. I know nothing of .srt files?

Checking the media player it looks like it will as a loaded external subtitle: Click image for larger version

As you can see from this screenshot, srt subtitles are being loaded and prioritize over the embedded (which is right!)
however, they are not being displayed

Did you load them? Second option from the top? Might make a difference?

I was a little rusty at creating a subtitle but I used SubtitleEdit to create a .srt for a .MKV .
I added it using DVDFab Ripper.
A DVD was the source for Ripper.
I added the .srt as an external .
When selected with DVDFab Media Player it works correctly.
Unlike the one in the list in DVDFab Media Player in your picture which shows it is a .srt .
The .srt I added just shows "English" like the other subtitles in the video.
I know it was added because before there was only one subtitle track for English.
As far as I can tell the .srt I created is just a standard text file.
I couldn't attach it in the forum as a .srt file but I will attach it as a .txt file.

I did make sure the arrow was beside the added .srt in the subtitle list in DVDFab Ripper.
I'm not sure that made a difference but it may have.

                              Hello,

Please download the font from the URL below and then save it to Windows\Fonts folder. And then playback srt subtitle again.
