Passkey v9.4.3.7 MakeMKV conflict; UHD BDs show AACS 2.0 "current drive not supported", HD BDs work OK

I have a Pioneer S09 cross-flashed to S11 firmware to support UHD BDs. MakeMKV is fine ripping these discs, however Passkey complains with the error:

"Your current drive is not supported. Please switch to a UHD-friendly drive that does not require AACS 2.0 authentication and then try again."

With an HD BD, I see this:

I don't have many UHD BDs, but the error happens on every disc I try. HD BDs are decryptable.

I have access to another drive which I believe is UHD compatible so I'll try that this weekend, but I am curious to know if this is some issue related to UHD BDs.

Also, when MakeMKV is installed, Passkey seems to become unable to actually enumerate any discs inserted into drives, or even display basic drive information. I have to uninstall MakeMKV completely from my machine to make Passkey work. Are DVDFab developers aware of this problem?

The issues seem to begin after the first reboot following MakeMKV installation. This issue appears to have been present for a few years, e.g. https://forum.dvdfab.cn/forum/softwa...makemkv-1-16-5 which is a post from 2022. The latest v1.17.8 of MakeMKV still has a conflict with the latest Passkey (v9.4.7.5).

Is that S11 firmware a Makemkv released firmware? I've been told that DVDFab software is not compatible with the firmware put out by Makemkv, which might explain the problem you are running into.

The firmware was supplied by someone else, it's not a MakeMKV-provided FW. However MakeMKV can successfully parse UHD BDs with the firmware (AIUI, the S09 uses the same Renesas R8J32740FP42 chipset as the S08 and S11 and can be cross-flashed).

Interestingly the same fault and error happens with an unflashed (original firmware) Pioneer BD-RW BDR-XD07TUHD running Revision v1.03 firmware (20/08/20), which definitely supports UHD BD and BDXL.
