Question.... I know my 4K Tv's support HDR10, but are there any 1080p TVs that support HDR10? What happens when I play back these HDR10 1080p files on my 1080p tvs?
Like now I segment my Plex library. I have a "4K Movies" library for my 4K stuff (HDR and DV), and "Movies" library for 1080p and lower in another. On my non-4K TVs and my tablets, etc. I just use the Movies folder (non-4K, non-HDR/DV) and they direct play in Plex (no transcoding necessary).
Am I correct thinking that Plex is going to have to transcode these HDR10 1080p's on the fly when watching them on TV's and devices that don't support HDR?

Scene Groups present this result to Main@L4:
The Pale Blue Eye:
Format : AVC
Format profile : Main@L4
Bit rate mode : Variable
Bit rate : 4 636 kb/s
Nominal bit rate : 5 000 kb/s
Maximum bit rate : 7 500 kb/s
File size : 5.01 GiB

StreamFab provides this result for Main@L4:
The Pale Blue Eye:
Format: AVC
Format profile: Main@L4
Bit rate mode: Variable
Bit rate: 1 737 kb/s
Nominal bit rate: 3 010 kb/s
Maximum bit rate: 4 515 kb/s
File size: 2.28 GB
Conclusion:
I made the mistake in thinking that StreamFab would allow me to have the same effect achieved by the scene groups.

It's very weird that the other 3 downloaded as HEVC HDR10 while the settings were on High.
But the simple fact that HEVC downloads always say Main 10, it's probably safer to choose Main. And to think iat the Main profile before... rotfl
Good to know.
We'll since I'm on Standard Netflix right now, will let them finish, 8 of 25 to go, then set to Main.
I'll upgrade to Premium on 15th and try the same files again.
Thanks!

My Download speed to the router is 1.5 gigabit but my 24-port switch and network cards in every computer are 1 gigabit. WiFi 6 also won't gimme the full 1.5 but it comes very close to 1
Seems like adding the Main profile is what allowed them to get HEVC. When downloading to H265 HDR10, it has a Main 10 profile. I downloaded The Witcher Season 1 Recap and Making the Witcher on January 9th when testing the differences between Main and High and i just now realized that they downloaded as HEVC!!!
I have just now downloaded Bastille Day (The Take), Mumbai Mafia: Police vs. The Underworld, Red Notice, The Irishman and The Pale Blue. I Selected the bitrate closest to 3500. My Profie is set to High.
Bastille Day:
Code:Format : AVC Format profile : High@L4 Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 3 596 kb/s Maximum bit rate : 20.0 Mb/s
Code:Format : HEVC Format profile : Main 10@L4@Main HDR format : SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Bit rate : 2 918 kb/s
Code:Format : HEVC Format profile : Main 10@L4@Main HDR format : SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Bit rate : 1 412 kb/s
Code:Format : HEVC Format profile : Main 10@L4@Main HDR format : SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible Bit rate : 3 418 kb/s
Code:Format : AVC Format profile : High@L4 Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 1 308 kb/s Maximum bit rate : 20.0 Mb/s

I have a few suggestions for the devs but will test a bit more before posting my findings
What is the speed of your connection, I know it's probably a *lot* faster than mine.
Hopefully they'll take any good suggestions and incorporate them into software.
I suggest download quota be at least 100!
Or bump it up selectively for YouTube Downloader (used for multiple services) & Amazon since I get so much content from different channels on Amazon & 50 hurts...
I settled on downloading 25 movies/series episodes from that list while I'm on Standard Plan today, and will do the same 25 after 15th on Premium plan.
I set the Netflix profile to High also, is that ok? or should it be Main?
The speed of my connection is not that fast at 100Mbps - but it's worked great for 1080p H265, with no throttling, slowdowns and very little downtime so far in last 2 years and it's only $5 a month thru Spectrum for me here at Senior Living complex.
Hope speed of connection is not an issue with this.
I normally don't hit it hard, just Stream news & one computer/process.
My best friend has AT&T at 10x the speed and mine is working better - he constantly has speed issues/pixilation, has replaced the modem a few times and currently some upgrade they did now doesn't interface with his Ring Doorbell and Alexa.
Netflix seems to have lower bitrates, but I think that's Netflix doing it, and not related to my connection.
If it was related to Amazon and HDR10, I'd be jumping on it like a Chicken on a June Bug...
One complaint for users of Netflix is that a lot of newer stuff is not coming out on HDR10.

StreamFab 6.1.0.3 Netflix HDR10 need Premium Sub
Hiya,
I don't trust Netflix and interfacing with PC's/Browsers/StreamFab to work consistently with this.
Anyone have the Premium plan and is it worth $4.50 more dollars (On Standard Plan right now) and working for this ok with StreamFab with their setup/connection?
Also, is this also tied to speed of internet connection?
List of 4k/HDR/Atmos Movies & TV Shows on Netflix
Release notes:
"HDR10 1080p video is supported only with Netflix Premium Ultra HD plan, and H265 video is supported with Netflix Standard and Premium plans."
If no one responds to this, I *may* test by changing plans after 15th to see if I experience a difference on files received on Standard vs Premium plan on a test sampling of titles from above list on my speed connection.
Gonna download some of them now (50?) while I'm on Standard Plan.
I assume you need to change the parameters in StreamFab for Netflix (see attached)
Video Codec for Netflix to: H265 - HDR
Any other changes I need to make, for H265 MP4 right now?
