    Peacock - Long Analysis

I mentioned this in passing in some of my past messages but never with the intent of having it fixed, but now I am. What I am talking about is that when trying to do a Peacock download it takes an excessive amount of time to analyze the download. If you go by the graphic image of the Analysis line going across the screen, it takes 15-16 times for the line to transverse the screen before the download begins. With most other streamers it is completed in 1 or 2. I've never actually timed it but it has to be well over a minute. According to the StreamFab.log it appears that SF is attempting to find an appropriate DRM key (or whatever term you want to use). If I'm not mistaken, these keys are coming from the StreamFab server. Being that the Analysis always lasts 15-16 times now it becomes obvious that the most used keys on the list, found on the server, are the ones found at or near the bottom of the list. In theory, if you flip the order of the list and have the bottom keys at the top and the top ones at the bottom you potentially increase how quickly a download is analyzed. My suggestion is that you try doing that.

I have completely given up on Peacock now that the other guys have it. Analysis is non-existant. Click download, it downloads.

I prefer StreamFab because of the bitrate selection and H265. Peacock has a single bitrate and no H265 so it would be idiotic of me not to use them when they have none of the problems i have with StreamFab.

The most frustrating thing to me is that the issues are not universal. I only use stream downloaders and don't ever actually watch from the sites themselves. I have 2 devices in my Peacock profile (StreamFab and the other). I am constantly being logged out and if i want to download in batch, i have to stay on the peacock page and can't do anything else in the other modules.

Mike_M also has that problem but you don't. Same with other issues in other modules where i might have a problem and others don't. I am not a dumb guy and i am not "doing it wrong" so why tf are the issues happening to some and not others?

Because this has been happening forever without a solution, i was really stoked when the others added it and i can download whatever i want with no headaches.

Annoying i have to do the mkv remuxing manually but i have my scripts for that so I'll take that extra step to avoid the frustrations.

      Jpp72,

I only use StreamFab for TheCW now and very very infrequently just for comparisons from downloads from both services on "main" streaming services.

My needs are desires/needs are less than many (1080p, good audio, no subtitles) and I don't have time to watch downloads from StreamFab to see if there are quirks in the downloaded file.

The constant fix this/break that "whack-a-mole" and having to keep track of what's not working and using different versions for different providers is just too time consuming and shouldn't have to be done.

I also noticed the StreamFab website is down right now & says "Something really cool is coming soon". (see attached)

Don't know if people should anticipate, fear or it's just a standard display message being utilized that doesn't have a lot of underlying changes.

Yeah i feel ya. Like i said, the only reason for me is the bitrate selection and H265 on Netflix. If the other guys ever let us pick the bitrate, i will dump StreamFab and never look back. Successful downloads that yield corrupted files is just not ok at all.

The bitrate might actually no longer be an issue soon as Amazon has finally lowered some of the excessive bitrates. The whole point of H265 was to give the same quality at a lower bitrate. Lots of people think it's same bitrate smaller file size but that is not it.

I don't know how they could justify a 45 minute episode of a reality show in H265 be 7 GB but it is now 2 GB at the highest quality so maybe i don't need to select the bitrate that gives me a 1 GB file

That maintenance message is probably generic so i doubt they will bring us something truly great/new. Unless of course it's a new download module for a streaming site in Burkina Faso

              Jack,
As you probably know by now, I'm like Mike in that I'm not very demanding when it comes to my downloads. Any old bitrate in the normal range is fine for me. I don't need to compress with x265 because I have plenty of storage space. I don't need subtitles because I only speak English and I'm not interested in watching foreign videos. I use my recordings primarily as a time-shift. Both my wife and I watch once and delete. We have a few specials and movies that we have kept but for the most part everything is gone when done.
As for Peacock, I've never been logged out of it. When people talk about that here I don't have any concept of what that is. It just doesn't register because it has never happened to me. As I've said many times that with Peacock it is all about the devices. I try to only have one device listed in the Account, two at most. Everytime you get a new SF update, Peacock considers that a new device. When you reach three, Peacock allows you to delete the two you aren't using at the time and you are then back to one. Anyway, I think it was Mike, could be wrong, that discovered that with more than 3 devices you would start to have trouble, mainly at the time, seeing that Kitty from Hell. That's when I started watching my devices. Never any logouts and no Kitties. Actually, sometimes I'll accidentally click on the Live station feed and that cat comes right up to annoy me.

I've got to say, since 6.1.3.2 I've been in a much more positive mood about StreamFab. I think it was the partial upgrade to Python 3.8 and the newer YoutubeMP3Process.exe (yt-dlp). Now finding that the unaired HULU episodes don't show in the selection popup was a nice surprise. They seem to be making subtle changes in the right direction that I like. If I can get them to speed up this Peacock Analysis time I'd really feel good about them. Mona, are you listening? On the other hand, we don't need any more porn, anime, or sites no one has heard of. This "something really cool" thing has me petrified. I hope you are right, Chameleon. Anyone that's been around knows that there is no such thing as a sale. It's just the regular overpricing with changing seasons or holidays.

I noticed the same on Analyzing... I was trying to get the latest episode of American Ninja Warrior Season 15.. (E05 and E06). It just sits there on analyzing.

I'll post my log later. I'm currently downloading some other items from Amazon and Netflix. Once they are done, I'll kill my log folder and download from Peacock and post the logs.

Oh, and yes, SF never saves my Peacock login. I have to login every time. SF does keep my Amazon, Netflix, Disney+ log ins.

Well let's see, the sale is only on the modules that don't work. So in essence that is some sort of sale right?

Ya that is my point exactly. I also delete devices and all that but if i batch download something, i need to stay on that page or it will log me out after each episode. So why it happens to me but not you is frustrating and i would think the devs would know why and tell me wtf i am doing wrong. Is it because i have a standalone account not linked to my TV provider? Just tell me why and if i can't change it then so be it.

I am picky because i already have "Any old bitrate" that Sonarr gets automatically. I have plenty of space too but i still have to manage it when i keep pretty much everything unless it sucks or was cancelled without closure. I currently have a little under 400 TB of media.

Subtitles i do get French and Romanian for my family but the English ones are for my wife and I. I was never someone who would use subtitles for languages i understand but i got used to it because my wife had some difficulty understanding some accents or if we watch late at night in the bedroom when we lower the volume.

After a while, i got used to it and it's actually a plus IMHO. Sometimes you are not 100% sure what they said, or even the name of the person speaking. It had happened many times in the past before where i have no clue what the person said and would rewind 3-4 times before guessing it. Doesn't happen anymore.

There's actually a lot of people watching with subtitles when the audio is in their own language. I saw several articles on it in my Flipboard so i don't feel like a weirdo anymore. Except the fact that it's mostly young people doing it

That's crazy. I have, I think, 48 TB of space on my NASes. The actual video amount is much less with my wife's collection being huge compared to mine. I'm just not that into videos anymore. Not trying to be morbid, but at the same time trying to be realistic, I'm 67 years old. I just looked it up and the average USA male lifespan is 77 years. So, I've got 10 years to watch all my videos that I've been saving for the right time. Along with that I have 584 Kindle non-fiction books to read (provided I don't buy more in the meantime). I've read 585 Kindle non-fiction books since 2010 so I'm cutting it close. I'm not worrying about the few fiction books I have. Add to that my daily cat rescue duties (actually not duties, works of love) and my wife's honey-dos. I'm pretty well booked for the rest of my life.

I erase every movie I download after I watch it unless one of my roommates wants to watch it then Ill put it on a USB stick and put it in the common room where the house TV is. I only have 2 tbs of storage space.

I just turned 51 and i will never be able to watch everything i have. Obviously some stuff is for my friends and family and i have no interest in it but i guess i am a Media Collector. Some people collect stamps or coins and i collect media

Check out those stats... Movies used to be almost double that...

Apologies for the delete and repost - attached the wrong file and was unable to remove it via editing for some reason.

Analysis on Peacock doesn't complete for me at all...at least not in any time frame I'm willing to wait. Allowed it to go for several minutes today and got nothing. Tried clearing the cache directory and rebooting - no change. I'm pretty sure I've seen the "We can't play this right now" screen before, but analysis finished in the past and the download worked. No such luck, this time. I've attached a screenshot, StreamFab.log and qef.log (just in case that might somehow be helpful). I noticed in the qef.log that the WideVine decrypter module directory was not found, however I checked, and it does indeed exist, although some of the permissions on the version number directory seem odd to me (for example, TrustedInstaller can only list files, nothing else). I haven't tried uninstalling, deleting everything and reinstalling yet, but I'm (foolishly?) hoping that won't be necessary. I'm open to suggestions (including uninstalling and reinstalling if there are no other, less drastic things to try).
