This Company and their software

This company is unreal. They released yet another version of StreamFab only to advertise about another new module WOWOW instead of trying to fix Netflix. So sad. They obviously don't care. I don't even know what to say or think anymore. Everyone should just forget about this company and go to the competition (AnyStream) as they are actually trying to work on fixing their software and are making it better.

OK, no porn module? Too bad. They're tinkering with the website. The change log is no longer so prominent...
They're selling the software weekly now :-)

Previously, they said they would fix the DRM MPD Downloader before May 31st, but I just tested 6179 and it still hasn't been fixed, so I think what the official said is all lies. When I asked them how long it will take and if it will take another four months, they said they don't know, haha!

Lies, you say? I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that you would insinuate such a thing.

 /s

I'm on the same page with all of you. I have to say I'm quite disappointed. I've gone out of the way and defended this software against competitors and recruited others over the past few years. This software served me very well while it worked. It was my main go-to over all of the others, mainly anystream. Using anystream wasn't too often, but only in the rare case I had an issue with streamfab. It's like a big slap in the face to all of us. From the way they keep ignoring all the main modules that are still broke, to the complete disrespect and dismissal of Cats4U & jpp72. I too, am still flooded with almost daily spam to purchase DVDFab products to "download" from streaming sites. Each one I get makes me angrier as time passes, knowing they haven't been addressing important fixes but yet advertise a working product. I'm about to jump ship, but a little part of me is still holding on hoping for something soon. It's either shame on them or shame on me... we'll see over the coming weeks. Hopefully they come through for us.

I know I'm not the only one here who has invested time in helping this company in one way or another. As a matter of fact, quite a few of you too, have gone above and beyond. I see you. I've seen you over the past few years. Just know that I appreciate all of you that have put in time helping these guys out only to seemingly now be slapped in the face.

I also have been pro StreamFab since the DRM change, told myself that the interim solution with screen recording is good, left my posts regarding this in the forum. But all the updates since, the introduction of new modules as well as not giving any hint about progress made in regard to DRM made me evaluate the the competitor's solution. Sure, SF is far more comfortable to use (provided it woud work) and I really do miss things like the free choice of the video bitrate to download, but I CAN stream record! even if it is "only" in the maximum possible quality. And YES, I got everything downloaded (not screen recorded) I wanted to download, and it worked 100% (can only speak for Amazon channels). I got my bitcoin wallet, which was very easy, and I got it stocked up, ready to buy my 2 year license from your competitor.

With this latest release with zero fixes for the major streamers and the added insult of yet another module I uninstalled ALL the versions of SF I had in stalled. It took me over an HOUR to remove all the little turds SF crapped all over the registry. I won't waste another minute on this garbage until the release notes indicate all DRM issues have been resolved. Pretty sure that is not going to happen so I damn sure won't be holding my breath. Just another Chibson on eBay.

I just asked streamfab's customer service and he said, "I'm very sorry, only in version 6179 did we fix wowow (original MPD), and other websites are still being processed.". But in the update history of 6179, it is written as: New: Introduced the WOWOW Downloader module to download WOWOW videos as 720p with AAC 2.0 audio. Interestingly, a newly developed downloader is officially said to have just been fixed!

I also gave up on StreamFab and went and purchased AnyStream+, it works great for all my primary download sites. The only thing I come back periodically (rarely) and use StreamFab for is something only available freely on Pluto! or Roku. I even stopped using DVDFab in favor of MakeMKV. I'm just not interested in supporting this company anymore.

Does AnyStream+ support Discovery+ and ESPN+?

I used to love Streamfab, but I'm considering giving up on it. It's broken, and owners are more concerned about fast money-grab somewhere else than fixing the issues on the already existing Modules.

You can add Discovery+ as an Amazon channel. The most high profile stuff on ESPN+ is available on Hulu. Hulu works 100% in StreamFab in case you want to select bitrates. If you don't care about the bitrates then of course Hulu also works in AS

Hi jpp72
Yes Stream Fab allows you to choose different bitrates, and it used to work splendidly, but for the past few months, the bitrate I choose is ignored and I am given a bitrate that was not chosen.

Hulu have changed their MPD and now everything in H265 has only 2 bitrates available. The metadata for those bitrates is wrong, much like the bitrates on Amazon. Thanks for reminding me i need to add to the bugs in Amazon.

In the Hulu module, you can pick one of 2 bitrates and you should get 2 different downloads but the estimates are wrong. Are you able to see 2 different downloads and get 2 different files?

I reported this in the what doesn't work thread

Thank you jpp72. I am getting the same results. The only reason I come back to this website is that you are here. I figure if you are here, there must be a reason to hold out hope

No, I don't think so but I will try again.

This is definitely weird that they'd add new features before fixing broken functionality. Maybe they do what they can because the new DRM is tough to get working again so they release *something* new to at least give new features if they can't fix a particular functionality? However, like Peacock, it logs me out after every two episodes of a TV series is downloaded- but the DRM is working, just keeps logging me out- why can't that be fixed before a new feature is added? I work IT for a living and if we have an application (whether internal or customer-facing), FIXING the functionality ALWAYS takes priority over new features.

  • Hulu (USA)
  • itvX (UK)
  • Joyn (Germany/Austria)

It's not because "the new DRM is tough." C'mon, it beggars belief that AS can be direct downloading within something like 10 days after the January CDM revocation and 5 months later SF is unable to crack even one DRM. You can't fix what you're not attempting to find a solution for.

Back in 2014, Feng Tao, DVDFab, Feng Tao Software et al were sued by the Advanced Access Content System Licensing Administrator (AACSLA) for "trafficking in products designed to circumvent [AACSLA’s] encryption technology." Feng Tao moved to dismiss the suit, not on the grounds that the US District Court of the Southern District of NY didn't have jurisdiction, but for insufficient process, claiming that he should have been served through The Hague Convention, rather than serving them in an email in English - the strategy being if he/they couldn't be served. the any legal proceeding was dead in the water. AACSLA claimed they'd been unable to uncover his/their physical addresses, hence the email service, while Feng Tao claimed their physical location was easy to find.

Various and sundry motions on both sides dragged the proceedings out for years, with AACSLA moving for default judgment as Feng Tao et al failed to appear, and Feng Tao opposing that motion, until in 2018 that Feng Tao's insufficient service motion was dismissed (based partially on his demonstration that he understood that he'd been sued).

Fast forward to August 21, 2023* when a permanent injunction against Feng Tao et al was granted on AACSLA's behalf, with damages of $14,927,000. That injunction covers "all circumventing activity," not just DVD encryption, which was the focus of the original 2014 suit, and calls for disabling all the DVDFab websites. I have no further info regarding whether SF plans to comply, or if there any other legal filings on behalf of either party.

However, since news that of the upcoming DRM change was known in October, just two months later, and DVDFab did nothing to get out ahead of it, the timing of that lack of action and avoiding any accountability with mods @jpp72 and @Cats4U, essentially jerking them around and using them to buy time, can't be that much of a coincidence. If there are still devs on staff who can crack a DRM, then they'd had to have been in a collective coma for the past 5 months - so Occam's Razor dictates that they are no longer there, and that DRM decryption isn't something that SF is going to be providing. There has been zero effort made to crack a single DRM, and SF have deliberately turned a direct downloader into a screen recorder/re-encoder.

I think we've all figured out by now that the "working for a solution" droppings from various SF functionaries here translates to "fixing the screen recorder/re-encoder we're selling now" and not "bringing back the direct downloader you paid for."

Wow, just wow, now everything is beginning to make sense. You must have some special abilities artsunlimited, fantastic detective work. I looked up the AACS-LA and they are made up of the most powerful companies in the world. I guess it's only a matter of time until this company disappears.
