If others report the software is functioning for them, then obviously it's either 1) you're doing something wrong, 2) something in your installation is creating the issue or 3) it's a regional issue that SF may not be able to do anything about. While I get that you're frustrated, getting huffy about any of these won't get you the download you want. The observation is neither "idiotic" nor is it "insulting," not least because "works for me so it must work for you" wasn't exactly what Chameleon wrote. There have been times when I just re-installed an older version because it performed better for me, even though others had no issue with the latest one - you don't always have to update just because it's there. YMMV, but while I download the latest release, I usually wait to update until I absolutely have to, in case the update is glitchy.

Since no one here gets a sales commission, whether you buy the software or not is pretty immaterial to everyone here but Wilson and rest of the SF minions. But here's something you might not have considered: you actually have three months to use this software before your purchase is no longer refundable - if you're not comfortable with that time frame, then don't buy it. The reason for that extended time frame is that 90 days is (usually) the window in which you can dispute a credit card charge with your bank. If you buy SF and a DRM change after the SF return window closes means you can't download anything, you'll still get your money back by calling your credit card and telling them the software stopped functioning and the company can't fix it - the dispute department will refund you in full due to non-performance. Obviously check with your credit card first in case their particular dispute window is less than - or more than(!) - 90 days, but that gives you a much better option than just a 30-day refund window, yes?

Since Anystream is no longer around, you have no other alternative for downloads. Given that, my advice is essentially carpe diem - 1) use a credit card (NOT a gift or prepaid card or debit card) to purchase the software since it's functioning now and 2) download to the limit for the next 90 days to get your money's worth. If by day 90 things are broken and you're dissatisfied with what you paid vs what you've downloaded, simply call your credit card and pull the ripcord on that refund parachute and walk away from all of it. But if you're satisfied with your haul up to that point given what you paid for the software, then anything you get from day 91 on is basically gravy. Good luck!

That's a lot of words to say very little. Others have reported it working AND others have reported it not working.

I'm not "huffy." I just have always hated the "you're the only one with an issue, so it must be you" excuse.

I've also never understood why people's default in support forums it to attack someone reporting an issue, and then accuse that person of being "huffy" when it's not appreciated.

Good for you. As a programmer, you should learn that works for you doesn't mean works for everyone. As a software engineer for over 30+ years, I would never tell a user, "it works fine on my machine. You must be an idiot."

No, it's a lot of words to point out an option you might not be aware of so that you can have more confidence and not feel so under the gun about purchasing. You're welcome.

We're all here to help each other, if you're going to be so defensive when people weigh in, you're going to be awfully limited in terms of success on this forum. If you see pointing out that others aren't having the same problem as you and another poster (who was then successful) as an "excuse" and an "attack" on you, then there isn't much to say - except that if you want to claim you're the victim of an insult and an attack and deny you're being "huffy," maybe don't be the only one here to toss around terms like "idiot" and "idiotic" while claiming that they come from someone else.

You're entitled to your perception of others, but you should also be aware that "tone" is absent a great deal of the time from platforms like this, and you might not be aware as to how you come across. Or don't bother - since you won't be buying the software, we won't be hearing from you in future.

I grabbed it earlier today but I am running 6.1.8.3 as all the subsequent versions have fixes that are of absolutely zero interest to me. Nada. If it's not broken I don't fix it. If the version has nothing to do with my use it makes no sense to update. I just managed to get Win11 up and running like a top on my old Win7 workhorse and I'll probably go kicking and screaming when they shove Win12 down my throat.

It may make a difference as I am in the US. It came down 1080p EAC3 6 channel first try. Your profile doesn't indicate your region so if it is different this may also come into play. This may also be why another user changing the region of their VPN worked. I have noticed SF takes longer to analyze with this version but it does finally finish analyzing and downloads.

One thing that has solved quite a few problems for me is deleting the Temp and Log folders and instead of doing the brain dead built in update I download the offline installer, rename the old version's directory to XXXXStreamFab where XXXX is the version number then install the new version. This way I can revert if the bug fixes include new "Microsoft features" (meaning new bugs). The first thing I do after installing is rename StreamUpdate.exe to StreamUpdate.exe.NOPE, this way it never even tries to trash my current installation. Deleting the Log and Temp folders means I have to log into my sites again but is a small price to pay to avoid bringing old problems into the new installation.

I know many tout "professional uninstallers" but if I want my system and/or any other programs trashed I'll do it myself, I don't need someone else's help. Don't tell me it can't. Quite a few times a 3rd party uninstaller uninstalled dependencies (C++, shared DLLs etc) that other programs relied on. Just so it's said going in.
Win11 Pro 22H2, no bloatware, no spyware, no crapware, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no MS account. And yes, you can dual boot 7 and 11.

IIRC several commenters have mentioned backing up one's system before running any kind of third-party installer, for the very reasons you just listed. I certainly didn't need anyone's help to bork some dependencies that at least one program relied on when I went from a screen recorder version to the post-Anystream downloader fix without a complete uninstall first (I didn't see @Cats4U's very helpful suggestion to do just that) - but it was SF that took out several programs that I had to uninstall and reinstall.

So in my case you can actually be damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I was away a few days so I just tried 6189 now. I did the one-click upgrade, since that's always worked for me, just lucky I guess. I had 4 files in my queue. All 4 failed with error 318. So, I did remove/reinstall (not using a cleaner.) The files were still in my queue, so I clicked "Start". 2 of the 4 downloaded, the others failed with error 318. I clicked "Start" again, and the other 2 downloaded successfully. I won't try to guess whether the problem's at my end, the program, or primevideo.com, but I guess you could say I agree with the people who say it works and I also agree with the people who say it doesn't work.

I don't think I understand. If 6.1.8.X fails for any of the services I subscribe to I can instantly go back to the last version that worked. Same goes for any successive or previous versions. However, IIRC not a single successive version from 6.1.8.3 on did not entail any fixes for Prime, D+ or P+ therefore I did not install them. But I may have missed it, Fab is great about protecting their bottom line so they take the older versions down not long after another one or two updates so they can charge the additional $10 for their kind and caring download $ervice. At times I had to bounce back and forth between versions depending on what I wanted to do.

I can only suggest what has worked for me time and again, and while the DRM debacle was in full swing for almost 5 months what saved my ass time and again. This is the last time I'll go over it.

                          1. Never use the built in update if you did not FIRST download the offline installer for the previous version or you're screwed, blued and tattooed if you want to go back the older version and they've taken the link (or version) down already. See rule #5.

                          2. Only use a "professional uninstaller" when you fully understand it can break other programs or functions of your OS. No full backup before hand? So sad, too bad. You've been warned.

                          3. If you want to quickly switch between versions rename the old version's install folder XXXXStreamFab where XXXX is the previous version number (e.g. in this case 6.1.8.8) BEFORE installing the new version. This way you can quicky go back should there be issues with the newest version but always observe rule #4 in between switching.

                          4. ALWAYS delete or move the Log and Temp folders from the older version BEFORE installing or running the newer version. This saves a TON of problems and makes certain you're not bringing old issues into the new version. You may have to log into your services again but it's much preferred over error messages, incorrect resolutions/audio format, ad infinitum.

                          5. ALWAYS download the latest version of the OFFLINE installer as soon as it is made available. It WILL go away sooner than you think and their download page ALWAYS downloads the latest version. It is evident if the link contains download.php in the URL. Don't believe me? Try it for yourself right now (and I mean now, it may be gone in 60 seconds) with link in the 6.1.8.8 release sticky. Welcome to 6.1.8.9!

                          6. And probably just as important as all the rest, if the release has absolutely no reference to fixes for the services you subscribe to (e.g. Amazon, Disney+, etc.) there is no sound logic to update. If it's working don't fix it then cry because it's now broken. Leave that idiocy to Microsoft and their fool moves.

Below are the fixes listed for 6.1.8.9. I may be reading it wrong but I don't see Amazon in that list. There are two constants in life. Death and SreamFab will break at least one thing with a fix for another.

                          StreamFab 6.1.8.9 Changelog
Fix: A problem that in some cases the video download result from Max is still the content analyzed last time.
Fix: A failure problem when downloading certain videos from Netflix.
Fix: A failure problem when downloading certain videos from AbemaTV.
Fix: A failure problem when downloading certain videos from WOWOW.
Fix: A failure problem when downloading certain videos from Crunchyroll.

As a side note if it is working for ALL your services and you DON'T want to risk it updating to the latest and greatest issues and bugs rename SreamUpdate.exe to something like StreamUpdate.exe.NOFUCKINGWAY and it CAN'T update then.
Win11 Pro 22H2, no bloatware, no spyware, no crapware, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no MS account. And yes, you can dual boot 7 and 11.

Some have to update to later versions, then 6183, because newer versions of SF fixed issues for them.
There were several added fixes to Netflix in itself
Other than Win11Pro issues, I have not had trouble with streamfab lately. Although it could have been the power outage that caused it.
Windows 11 Network reset was needed as well as Windows firewall needed to be reset. And that was to fix YouTube downloader because somehow Windows firewall blocked streamfab YouTube downloader and the only way to fix it was to do the resets.
I will admit that for a very long time, I got away with using SF updater and had no issues, but once more and more problems came, it really don't take that much effort to uninstall older and install new and/or delete log and temp folders etc.

But anyway, OP was unwilling to listen. I got to where I try in the following order if I have issues.
#1 - I have streamfab use default for log storage, so I go to Documents\DVDFab\StreamFab and delete everything there.
If that doesn't work I already have offline installers, get as many as you can, unless you have the extended download service. In one of my purchases from dvdfab I got the extended download service.
#2 - I uninstall SF and then install from the offline installer.
ONE or BOTH usually fix most issues. If not, then it's time to show parts of your log so that everyone can see the error, as only 'specific' members can read the log if attached like OP has done.
P.S. There were rare occasions where in uninstalling I also needed it to remove the SF settings by checking the checkbox for it.

OP did not want to uninstall and then install again. Amazon works, or I would be posting so, as that is used a lot by me as well as many others use it.
I tried several movies many times and series and NO error, let alone a 318, and seems not many know what ErrorCode: 318 is. again maybe the logs tells more, but can't say.

Another thing I tried to tell people before, there are at minimum 2 programs I use that, if an update comes, you download the full installer, and it then starts to uninstall the older version and then installs new.

Also, if others have not noticed, the OP gave up as stated in this post. Probably listening to others to either use an SF clone or screen recorder to download from streaming sites.
But it was easier for OP to be no longer interested. And also hate to read between the lines. But with the so-called testing, the op alludes to, I wonder if it was a cracked version of SF as you usually only get 3 downloads without buying,

There are way too many variables, but once someone pays they need to try, try again because you can't make use of the program if it's not working for you.
What a waste of time, streamfab so-called support.

If an update has fixes listed that pertain to a service or services subscribed to then updating makes perfect logical sense. I can't argue with that.

I always opted out of the download service out of principle. I feel it unfair to charge a fee for the privilege to download older versions particularly in light of the fact new bugs are always being invented/incorporated necessitating the need to bounce between versions or backdate. This is not conjecture but established fact.

I download all the latest updates a soon as they are available even if they don't pertain to my usage not only just so I have them on hand but so I can help others needing to backdate. I use Chrome and download history will provide the direct link to the actual version circumventing download.php which always pushes the latest version.

My browsers are set up to download only although it is possible to run the download by mistake instead of opening the folder. I avoid Edge as for some reason it conveniently "forgets" that I only want to save a download and not run it. To date I've not run into a site that demands it so it just sits there collecting dust. Besides, it's noisy as hell.

The main reason I renamed the old version's install folder was there was a need to during the months long DRM/screen recorder debacle and I was doing a LOT of testing and hopping between versions regularly. In my case it worked well without issue.

I have been at war with Windows Firewall since Win7 and agreed, it is PITA to create rules to allow a program that does not add rules for itself. SF 6.1.8.3 is one which I had to add exceptions for in Win11 in order for it to work. Virola chat server/client is another for example.

It would seem the OP does not have the intestinal fortitude to stick with a battle until it is won. Or as you said opted to go another route. Victory is only afforded to those who stay the course.
Win11 Pro 22H2, no bloatware, no spyware, no crapware, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no MS account. And yes, you can dual boot 7 and 11.

Just got the 318 error code with 6.1.8.9 while trying to download Arcadian through AMC+ on Amazon and Love Lies Bleeding on Max. Tried all the usual tricks with zero change.

I rolled back to 6.1.8.8 and both downloaded fine. The movie on Max actually downloaded in 1080p
