    Thanks for the info. I figured you would find a way to do it.

    I want to download from thecw, so I will have to try a few different things or just use a different downloader, as it works with no issues, and get a movie, not a show, and also a remuxed mkv file with srt.
    In my past tests with Plex and Roku, they were slow, too. Also, neither has srt.
    And things on thecw are not all on the other providers.

    Also, notice it attempts to save as a show, S01E101, and it's a movie.

    Seems streamfab could maybe fix thecw so it works right.
    The main reason for pointing this out was to show that streamfab for thecw is still not working right.

    Also feels a bit like Déjà vu as posted here in 2024.

      With same (vpn) connection (same title) I get at
      cw ~2,5MB/s | plex ~3.5MB/s | roku ~1MB/s
      and at Fandango (here) ~1.5MB/s

      So I can be lucky, that it's offered at amazon.de for free (or with pv in CA)

      But of course not all CW titles are also available elsewhere ..
      .. so the series template shouldn't apply to movies either

        I guess I am not up to using a VPN as it should not be needed accessing thecw, Roku, or Plex from the US.
        (Full 1300 to 1500 download speed available from my ISP)

        And the speeds do, at times, start out good, but very quickly go from MB/s to KB/s download speed.

        I do believe it's thecw as the other downloader I tried got similar slow downloads. I did not try Roku or Plex on the other downloader.

          In the instant case, it really isn't SF's fault- the film is filed under .../series/... on CWTV

            try with yt-dlp since the movie is not DRM protected.

              I got the movie by one means or another, it's the fact that streamfab can't.
              But if it is filed under .../series/, shame on thecw. And this still takes me back, posted here in 2024.
              And that does not affect the other downloader, which downloads, such as a movie.

              So maybe we are to use 'other' means of getting from thecw.

              I will leave this topic alone now, as there are other issues that should be addressed as well.

                probably because "the other" downloader is broken, this is what meta yt-dlp pulls from the site:
                Code:
                ...
                  "series": "Dirty Girl",
                  "season_number": 1,
                  "episode_number": 1,
                  "display_id": "5d1e932e-0c0e-4d0e-8aa2-db2b703e51e5",
                  "fulltitle": "Dirty Girl",
                  "duration_string": "1:29:38",
                  "upload_date": "20250415",
                  "season": "Season 1",
                  "episode": "Episode 1",
                ...

                  I really don't know what the problem is. It's ok for some to report an issue with cwtv, and we are then all happy when 6.2.3.1 came and looked like it fixed it.

                  Now someone else comes along and shows that neither 6.2.3.1, 6.2.3.2 works with cwtv.

                  I personally don't care for, nor what, yt-dlp reports. Two other downloaders download not only movies, but series from cwtv fine, yet streamfab can't.
                  If not for the SF log, I would not even have known that it's trying to save as s01E101, as I never got a file to view.
                  For all we know, the other programs use other means to get the proper info.
                  I more than likely would have been ok with SF saving as S01E101, as I could then rename it to what I want, but SF can't even do that, I never even got a file.

                  I don't get why the continuous disagreements between users or members when this all should be focused on Streamfab, and its lack of working properly, and for the extreme price everyone pays for a program that doesn't work right, in many ways, but also I give credit for when it does work right.

                  It's more than obvious that not many here who use streamfab want to bother or be bothered with a command line program, like yt-dlp, that only supports none DRM, as many things on many sites are DRM. I am one of the first to tell others when standard YouTube videos stop working in SF to go to a free YT downloader, as they almost always work. And many have GUIs built around yt-dlp. Heck, even JDownloader will work for YT standard videos, again, not easy to find ones that support the DRM YT videos.

                  As to how two other programs do it, I can't say, people would need to ask them. They both were also able to get Amazon series listings the whole time SF could not, and neither needed a patch nor update to fix that.

                  One main advantage to streamfab is you know, when it works, you're getting as pure a download as possible with hopefully the best video/audio available.

                  So let's keep to reporting issues and getting streamfab fixed and become the best downloader ever possible.

                    The problem is caused by the subtitles, the dev is checking for this.
