Warning email from Amazon

What are they going to say? It is what it is. Amazon will either ban this outright or try to keep it to a dull roar to keep farming rentals and purchases.

I assumed this would be coming at some point. It's all business. If Amazon thinks they are losing more money than what stopping it costs, they will stop it or attempt to. I know Amazon is very profitable but I do not know about Prime Video itself. It seems all the streaming platforms have a rough financial time, given the dearth of yuk most of the new stuff is (my opinion) times are probably harder than usual. So this might make sense for Amazon financially in their minds.

I HIGHLY doubt we will hear anything from someone representing streamfab. If we do, I will be very shocked.
99% of those who say they got it, it was via email. The one that is concerning is TheRaven, who has stated it was in their Amazon Messages.
This is why jpp72 said it would be amazing if we could get a full screenshot, even if the member had to block out any identifying info before posting.
That can't be faked unless Amazon itself has been hacked. The emails are another issue.
It does seem to overall be very suspicious that some got it, and others who download tons of stuff have not.

Again, if members are concerned, they can completely stop downloading for a while from Amazon or restrict how much and what they download.

Also, even if there is someone from streamfab looking into it, they will have to not only figure out how it is being triggered by Amazon, but also how to bypass it. Especially those who received the message from AmazonUK and us, the .com version of Amazon.

Also, it could be triggered in many ways. But it still seems to be only reported by Streamfab users.

So you really dont know much either. I want to hear from the experts that sell the software. Is that really unreasonable?

Seems like some of the folks getting the warning email admit to renting stuff and then ripping the rentals. Which I never have done.

I am in the UK and do not use a VPN.j For now I am removing Amazon until someone from streamfab actually pipes up and says something useful.

These are real. I just got one and to the email address I use with Amazon. It's also in my Amazon account messages.

Here is my general behavior.

-no VPN
-use only in my own country
-usually just a few titles here and there
-I pay for rentals and do not refund them, I typically also play those rentals in a browser just to be not entirely obvious
-I recently broke my typical habits and pulled down a couple series that causes me to use all 100 for maybe 2 or 3 days and its been 2 or 3 days since I did that

Clearly they have known the whole time what was going, it's not a case of just noticing. They have either decided to tamp it down (assuming that it makes them cash given the purchases and rentals and prime subscription) or they are warning to slow it and then will start doing hard bans at some point disallowing it entirely.

I got one of those emails from amazon.co.uk. But I'm not in the UK...

The ones I get from Netflix looked similar but I delete them. One came on email, one on my mobile phone as an MMS message. They too had similar verbage trying to persuade you it was legit. Stating their urls always end in netflix .com, etc and it encouraged you to visit the help center. Then at the bottom there was a link, going to somerandomurl.com/netflx (note the absence of one of the letters. Is it going to netfix or netflx?)


As far as getting releases from the scene.... 4K Disney stuff is found there. Fantastic that SF does DV/HDR Full HD now, but if I want the 4K, go there. Torrenting is somewhat dangerous to your ISP, use the usenet/newsgroups. Easynews or other providers have a great web interface.

If we want to get to the bottom of this, we need more info.

The people who received this email, are you using Amazon UK, US, Japan or PrimeVideo?

Also, do you EVER play anything or strictly download?

What is the volume of your download activity?

Like simchris, I download a shitload from Amazon and because I spend so much money on channel add-ons and all kinds of physical items, they may be ok with the perceived loss from me downloading. I do play some stuff from within StreamFab sometimes, but that's just for a few seconds so it shows up in my continue watching. I think my mom may be watching stuff on her TV, but I guess I will ask her.

I have been downloading boatload of series to save for later, movies I already bought, and some stuff to watch later that might be gone in 2 months when I actually want to watch from Amazon. Realllllly adds up with older shows with 22-26 eps per season. I have been slowing my roll on that this week, and also trying to watch hours of actual stuff via Amazon on my AppleTV for perceived "balance." Just for laughs I also checked my Amazon account for any messages. Of course, not worried if 'revenue' related since I might spend $20K a year on Amazon (seriously -- catfood adds up!!). I am in US. This only interested me as I have been downloading so much from Amazon (US), but I have some random purchases from UK version from years back when some UK music company or tech company had their buy links on Amazon. I make sure I'm not logged into UK version for my downloads, though.
