    Encoded movie larger than original

Hello... I am ripping some 4K movies and I just ran into something odd where the ripped movie was much larger than the original. The movie is the original 1984 Ghostbusters. I am ripping using CODA/Nvidia GTX 1050. Hardware encoding is enabled.

This is what I am seeing...

Original movie folder size = 57.6 GB
Passthrough ripped movie = 46.3 GB
Movie ripped at 20 CRF = 64.8 GB
Movie ripped at 24 CRF = 37.3 GB

Why would the movie at 20 CRF be ~40% larger than the original? Is there an explanation for this?

    Hello,

Please post dvdfab_internal.log file, we will need to run some test to reproduce it first. Thank you.

    Regards,
    Mona

            Hello,

Movie ripped at 20 CRF = 64.8 GB
We do not reproduce the problem. Please take a screenshot of settings in the advanced settings window and post it here.

Also, please list other movies that have this problem, thank you.

            Regards,
            Mona

That is interesting, as I have run this a number of times and it is all the same larger size file. I have attached the screenshots here.

I have not seen this with any other movie yet.

                Hello muskie63,

                Thank you for the info.

We don't have the UHD movie "1984 Ghostbusters" to test this problem, we may need your source to help check it out since the problem could not be reproduced with other movie sources.

Meanwhile, please visit http://www.geforce.com/drivers to download the latest driver for your graphics card, update it to try again. Please feedback with the latest dvdfab_internal.log file and fabcheck_internal.log file.

                Regards,
                Mona

                  UPDATE

Movie ripped at 20 CRF = 64.8 GB
We have downloaded and tested the file you uploaded.

                  Here is what we found:
It is a driver problem of nvidia as we have verified it with other software such as ffmpeg.
In this case, we suggest that you feedback to nvidia, meanwhile wait for new driver.

                  Regards,
                  Mona

??? This issue is making your software not work properly. You have also identified the error. Why aren't you contacting nvidia?
