I got my box and it seems that this product is an early alpha sample

1. I cannot change the skin in XBMC. When i try to install a new addon i always get an "Installation failed". Nothing worked.

2. I cannot change the sound ouptut in XBMC. It always output analog 2.0 over HDMI. All other options are grayed out. Hopefully this is a software bug and it will be fixed soon.

3. Networksocket is a very cheap one, i have to fix the cable with an additional folded paper to get connection to the cable.

I feel ripped off

Anyone have the same problems?

Regarding Point 1:

Seems that the XBMC Servers have some problems atm, you can read it on their homepage. This can be the reason for the problems while trying to install new skins.

Maybe one problem solved. But biggest problem is still that no pass through over HDMI is working. If someone can help me with this problem it would be great. This is such an important feature!

Oh, i forgot to say: Performance is not so bad as i can see so far, if sound problem is solved, i think its a good cheap media player. Otherwise its waste of the money.

@Malakay: Where are you living? Mine was not even announced for dispatch yet. Did you have to pay import tax?
The Vidon.me support seems to be quite poor - at first (after consulting them) they offered me a commercial invoice if there may be a custom's issue, then they submitted being not able to send one?!

Regarding point 1: Where did you read the official statement? I also had doubts that this more or less weak box is able to offer XMBC smoothly together with hardware decoding.

Regarding point 2: That was already the point I have posted before. The AV100 is a restricted junk-box that will not passthrough surround sound as it was all the time being reserved for the more expensive AV200.
I can only warn the people to order it blindly, since there are no details about its real performance yet and keep in mind the duty and import taxes.

All in all (without having my box yet) for the customers it seems to be the same flop as the last one when DVDFab had this special offer with this stick.
Since the price together with the Lifetime license was ok, I can live with that and use the AV100 as a Smart TV extension.
For good Bluray entertainment I am lucky to have an alternative well-engineered media player.

I'm from germany. i Payed arroung 20% tax.

I got the mail on 4th december that my order is processed. And got my box on saturday 14th december.

Point 2: When i ordered the box the homepage says that it kan passthrough the sound, if this is not true than this was a lie and the box is worthless. I will contact customer support, this is something i cant accept

aber auf der Vidon.me-Homepage stand links oben in dem Kasten zu dem Audio-Passthrough alleine der AV200, genauso wie beim BD-Menüsupport.
Mir ist das sehr früh aufgefallen und ich habe das weiter beobachtet.

Die Spezifikationen sind dagegen wieder irreführend.
Hier werden offensichtlich Funktionen über die Softwareversion beschränkt.
Wer den AV100 im Bundle gekauft hat, wird vielleicht darüber hinwegsehen, die andern werden sauer sein.

2.In my opinion,this is because AV100 is a dual-core version,it can not work as fast as the quad-core one(AV200). In order to play the video smoothly, it can not afford other heavy work(HDMI passthrough is powerful)

Same problem were with the hdmi pass thru. I get no sound at all on my mkv's and iso's. At least the video plays on this one compared to the first one! Actually, I get no sound at all other than the clicks when I choose something on the remote.

Seriously though, did anyone test this box at all? How can you ship this box out without hdmi pass through working (or any manual at all, or batteries for the remote)?

I guess I put too much faith in them to create a box that actually works.

DVDFab should sever ties with VidOnMe, they are giving them a black eye.

I'll be looking to get my money back.

Zora, you work for VidOnMe? The AV100 has an HDMI pass thru option in the setting menu, why is it there if it will not work?

I am located in the US - pm me if interested. I guess this could work for some, but if there is no hdmi pass thru this has no use to me.

@fengtao: The specificatiions under AV100 "AC3, DTS, MP3, PCM, etc." are however very misleading and assuming that only 2 channels are supported cannot be expected.
For a dual core processor this should be possible.
Sorry, but for those who are taken by your Christmas offer a second time or paid for this weak/and or dubious box it's frustrating and in the long run not positive for the DVDfab image.

Hi, I will wait it out, hopefully they can implement it.

At this point though, I get no sound at all from any movie. I have tried mkv's that I used the audio copy on pulling the dts-ma or true-HD track and when played I don't even get 2.0 sound through hdmi. I also played an ISO copy of a blue ray and I get no sound at all. If I could at least get 2.0 sound I could put it on my daughters tv that doesn't have surround sound.

I have tried various settings but still get no sound from movies through hdmi. The only sound that I hear is the clicks of the remote.

Do not expect too much and have a look at the onces who bought last year's offer. There was big advertising for these boxes and then they are revealing pure junk. The same with the AV200 - promising a lot (3D support etc.), the people run for it and no support afterwards. Don't be that naive and buy something reasonable.
