Feature Request Initial Impression and Thoughts

So got my box Movie server days ago, here are my first impressions, along with a couple questions and feature requests.

Hardware and packing
Overall good packaging
Nice remote but no batteries
Documentation: unreadable do to color choice on black paper
Little bigger than I expected for this kind of device but I would of been fine with a 2.5in drive instead of 3.5
No caddy to use a 2.5 in drive i.e. an ssd
A second lan port would of rocked to connect directly to a NAS

Software
Required an update right out of the box, not a big deal it went smoothly
On screen keyboard could use some work
When configuring Wi-Fi missing a button or nees to be more intuitive once password is entered how to move on.
After configuring my NAS it should blend into the movie panel not be separated inside the local section, if I really care 'where' the file is it should be done with a filter on the movie panel, I have no real desire to copy movies to the built in drive, I have 60TB of NAS that is where my files will exist
I would even be ok with it just using the local drive as a cache for NAS initiated playback, i.e. copy the ISO over if it detected bandwidth was insufficient
DVD, MKV all seem to work from the NAS, currently no Blu-Ray's are not yet playing, I'm not sure if this is a limitation or if is due to the box currently being on WIFI for initial testing
Apps? Is there going to be an app store, or is this going to be only manual APK loading, getting Netflix, VUDU etc. on their would be awesome
Over scan, on the Samsung TV I have it currently have it connected to it is over scanning some, I adjusted it down to 97% in the settings but not sure it is applying it to the menu system or just movie playback
Scanning the NAS, it never seems to 'stop scanning for movies'
How do you override what movie it is when it either gets it wrong or doesn't download images.
Any possibility of connecting a USB Blu-ray/UHD Blu Ray drive to the system for playback and archiving?
Harmony Hub support would be nice, or an ipad app to intereact as I have my equipment in a closet.


Overall I think this is going to be a great setup, just needs a few tweaks that I am hoping comes in the near future.

That's great feedback, thanks. Mine (a prototype with less memory and a poorer wifi radio) has no problem playing BD content from the internal drive, not tried over the network.

I am using a mini bluetooth keyboard for text entry and navigation. Mine has a different IR remote than the ones that were shipped with the final production units.

You are the second user to request some sort of method to manually correct/supplement wrong or lacking metadata and artwork, hopefully that can be added.

Have not noticed the overscan you mentioned. I found the Advanced Settings menus a little hard to read, seem to lo-res.

The Blu-ray over Ethernet is working fine once I added a hardwire connection.

My next test will be a side by side video quality assessment, I have a 120" projector screen and my first impression is that the video is grainy compared to my Xbox One for Blu-Ray's, but I will withhold official judgment till I have time to do a true side by side assessment of the exact same media.

On the just under 50" tv where I did the setup (over wifi so no blu-ray) I don't think I could notice a difference, but the big screen draws out any shortcomings of codecs which I will do tonight assuming work doesn't get all crazy on me today.

Overall feeling very positive about the purchase.

Wishlist:
1) Movies should be displayed in a single library, use the local hard disk to hold links/placeholders/metadata for all movies. Don't separate them into different menu options, allow filters if 'source' matters.
2) Alternative remote options for devices that are hidden away or profiles for common tools like harmony hub
3) Metadata override
4) how are apps going to work

Interesting .... I too have 120" projector screen, and now I am curious to see how it goes -- My projector can extremely focuse and zooms, etc .. so we will see how that experiment goes!

Mine has not gotten here yet, so I can't really put my 2 cents in many of these threads! --

The GPU chipset in the box can handle 4K video, so BD should be fine if you are connected to the display via HDMI.

- Press done after password is entered, it can move on. You also can press return button -press right to connect -ok.

We do not provide app store for users. Apk has no internation version, can not support the all users from deffrent Country. If you are interesting, you can install app makert Apk by yourself. I am sure box can install app(TV box version).

How do you override what movie it is when it either gets it wrong or doesn't download images.

So we create the meta files when copy from DVDFab to make sure the poster got crrectly . If this ways got wrong , please tell us. For other source has no mata files got poster from net , it maybe has wrong name, duplication of name, we can not make sure it got poster 100% correctly .

---Make sure you have a large libray, if you choose Browse by poster wall, it will scan the movies files display -serch poater from network -download poster. It will have catch, when you open the folder next time load will be faster
