Recreate User Data

The Recreate User Data option under System Maintenance just deletes the Data.

That control should probably be renamed, it prepares you to make new user data by wiping out all the old. I learned this the hard way also. It is sort of a last resort procedure if things have really gotten trashed.

This is a residual feature used by developers for debugging in previous versions and is useless now. Later versions will remove this option.
