    Media Players Members love for ver. 1010

    I bought my media player at the end of July and asked for it to be sent to me around mid September due to a 2 months overseas trip. I received it beginning of October. If I remember right I went straight to 1012 and had nightmares trying to get it all to work. I then decided to join this forum. I learned really quick that my way of naming things was up the creek. After I spent ages renaming everything, I thought great, lets start all over again with a new database. I found out that It didn't matter how good I thought I edited everything, I still managed to miss things. Less than a week ago I found a mistake where 1 of my episodes was missing. It was season S03E10 and I had accidentally written it as S030E10.
    Since all the hassles of 1013 and 1020, I just went back to 1010 which I never really used, only to find out that a lot of my problems in newer versions suddenly did not exist. I'm not saying that 1010 doesn't have problems, it does. I love the speed and quick easy search for movie(s) / TV show(s) that it provides (seconds) compared to newer versions where I could almost fall a sleep waiting, actually once I did. The "spinning wheel" as someone in the forum called it, (I think of it as the spinning wheel of death) would a lot of times last over 45 min. and if not canceled would end up with an error message forcing you to re boot the media player.
    Refresh rates and finding posters under 1010 are superb as newer versions take ages, especially for TV shows. I have never really checked the amount of time it took, but you would get about 49 each time but you could easy watch a 42 min. episode while waiting.
    So, yes I completely understand why a lot of members love it.

    I'm one of them. Not really going to update until something is actually better than 1010.

      How do I downgrade to 1010? I have unsuccessfully browsed around without luck, finding the 1010 firmware for download.

        I think mine was on 1008 when I received it, 1009 was out on first install so updated to that (Had the xmas lights on the boot screen lol) I never had many issues with that tbh, poster wall was good and everything I tried to play at that time worked as it should (pre atmos amp tho so it was all dts or DD)

        1010 seemed an improvement with the overall speed on how the unit worked and as 1009 worked well, since then and the move to cloud in the player has to be totally honest become a PITA to use, yes certain playback issues have been sorted like the no sound atmos on sony titles, but the poster wall and all the issues with it are just not worth the hassle they bring and for me have well and truely taken the shine off it, editing has become a total pain and most times you cant change what the player decides it should be, my TV series has gone from being perfect with 1010 to episodes being all over the place since the clould based garbage came out, every time I have given the newest fw release a try only to get fed up with it and its layout and go back to 1010

        I came from a Mede8er 800x3d and that thing scraped so well, in all the time I had it I think I only had a handul of movies that ever showed the wrong image or meta.

        Whats getting to me the most is that the powers in charge dont seem to want to listen to what 'us' the users are saying, they seem hell bent on making us use the cloud wether we like it or not, its just wrong in so many ways and isnt reliable enough for what they are trying to do with it, If they want to keep trying with it than thats all well and good but why not give the user the option to pick what they want to use so either the working 1010 way or cloud, let the user use the way that suits them best?

        We were promised an update for the weekend......wheres that at!!!!!!! Obviously theres more issues with this firmware and its not been released, but why dont we get updated with whats going on? The way things are going and if things like the poster wall aint sorted once and for all then I will be selling and looking for an alternative.

        Another thing with the cloud is do they think that everyone has a superfast internet connection? Maybe they do where they are based, but not everyone has and to an extent cloud based things are deffo not for that user, so if you think it takes an age to scan your movies imagine what its like for someone on a max 8mb connection!!!!!!!!!!


        1010 is by far the best fw for this player, if the atmos bug wasnt in it then tbh I dont think I would ever update from it, CLOUD SUCKS!!!!!!! GET THE MESSAGE and listen to your users before they have had enough and leave you

            C'mon...That just isn't true based on empirical observation! - Name another product forum where the developers and product specialist and team members are as active in their user forms as this one! If designing a perfect product was easy every one would be doing it and there would be no need for user forums. You don't have to play the victim here and rail against the 'Powers that Be', just roll back to the version that you like and stay there.

              Well, Dead Eye, can you tell us WHY they insist on going with a cloud based system that is broken and hardly anyone likes? What information in our MS is so important that they absolutely have to have a cloud based management service?

              There is an old saying, "Don't fix what ain't broken." but that has been lost on the powers that be.

                  I noticed that some members have a negative mind set. As I said earlier 1010 has problems too. I'm not going to list them as that is a waste of my time.
                  Patience is a virtue. Try dealing with Microsoft and see how frustrated you get. I gave them the solution for a well known problem with major updates for windows 10 on 3 different occasions and they don't bother passing it on. They think that it is alright to do the same exercise over and over again until you stop asking questions.
                  As to your comment regarding if it works don't fix it is a load of baloney. In this case I prefer the updates because sooner or later they will get it right. DVDFab has already said that there is something majorly wrong with the latest update.

                  Use 1010 until they get it right and stop all the negativity because you are not forced to update.

                        Well Shaggy, I can't answer that question because I am not a developer of this product and I am not a member of the working group that is charged with steering the direction of content management. I have a feeling though that even if I did have an explanation you and other detractors wouldn't like it or approve of it. Product development cycles are long and along the way they may incorporate features that are undesirable but still have an intrinsic value that may not be readily apparent to end users.

                        I can say that I don't believe for a second that any constructive comments and product recommendations made in these forums are NOT making their way back to the developers!

                        In my response to lamster I simply rejected the notion that 'The Powers that Be' are not listening or active in these forums...that is just BS at face value, and I'm pretty sure you know it!

                        Just downgrade your firmware and provide constructive feedback
                        ...and let the developers work through the problems and complaints from those that run the newer versions of firmware when it is released.

                            Take this as intended, CONSTRUCTIVE feedback.....

                            Please forget about the cloud version. At first glance, I was thinking it was an ADD-ON and I was happy. I can see if I already have a movie when out shopping.

                            In reality, it was a replacement. That is VERY SLOW.

                            I also love the suggestion to JUST TRY the new version before judging it.

                            Hmmm It takes HOURS for the thing to start showing a fraction of my content. Then, when I switch back to 1..0.1.0 I have a ton of cleanup to do.

                            I'll make a deal with you, Send me a free Movie Server and 8TB drive, I'll copy my 1000+ movies and 1000+ TV Episodes to it and run it on the Current version.
                            I'll add content to them both equally and even use it as much as I can. LOL.

                            A real concern I have is if ISP's start blocking traffic or content from certain sources ( you ) or if you go out of business or any other service interruption.
                            Then we are all out of luck. A few months ago, I was truly looking to buy a second movie server. But honestly, I am looking at other products at this point.

                            I have purchased a lot of your products and supported FABs efforts. But with the current shift to cloud and other software issues....I am loosing faith.

                            PS If I wasn't interested at seeing what the new versions were like, I would not have bothered reading and replying!

                              The direction of the DMS is under a complete review. All your posts have been read and alternatives are being studied and considered. Let's wait and see what the future brings.
