Hard disk extension on the MovieServer...

    Hello everybody,
I have the current version 2.0.1.2 on my MovieServer and edit my movies with DVDFab11 directly on the MovieServer on the internal built-in hard drive. I would like to connect to the MovieServer additionally an external USB3.0 hard drive and there also on DVDFab11 the movies draufspielen. Is that possible? I know that you can also do it separately via the Explorer, but I would like to do it directly via DVDFab11. So far, DVDFab11 recognizes only the internal hard disk. How can I do that, do you have any advice or tip?

    Thanks in advance...

      Komet,

I have USB connected hard drives. DVDFAB software will no longer transfer directly to that drive. To use the drive, I normally keep some free space on the internal drive to accept the transfer and then use the file management functions in the DMS to move the files to the USB drive.

In older versions of firmware (earlier than 2003 I believe), DVDFAB would transfer directly to the USB drive when the internal was full or near full. But this was not under control of the user. This no longer happens, so when the internal drive is full, DVDFAB reports that and will no longer transfer to the DMS regardless of free space on USB drives.

I am hoping they change this back in a new release. Ideally, DVDFAB should be modified to allow the user to select the destination drive in the DMS.

        Hi tbrown25,

Thank you for your answer. I followed your idea and tried. I found out that if you have several hard disks on the DMS and you want to select the storage location in DVDFab 11 below, click on the folder icon, in the Windows Explorer above the IP address of the DMS eg. \\ 192.168.188.XX \ share \ XXX \ XXX \ ... and select your USB drive and select the folder where you want to save the movie, the movie will be copied there directly from DVDFab11 without the message "Not enough memory" , The next time the IP address is stored down in the course of DVDFab11 and you need to select the appropriate USB drive only to save the movie. Because you said, it would be nice if you could select yourself on which connected hard drive on the DMS the film should be stored. This works out! Then you can also manage the movie in the Web Manager as normal as everyone else. So you do not need to s.der DMS back and forth and can immediately select the right hard drive in DVDFab11 to save.

I have tried everything myself and tested. Thanks for your inspiration, that's how I found the perfect solution for me.

          Komet,

Gosh, I am embarrassed to say that this method never occurred to me. It is a simple method to transfer to USB drives. Thanks for the info!

            With pleasure!

But I also came only through your post on it and took that as inspiration and tried a little and tested. And then I realized that it is synonymous. And it works, again and again. I am very satisfied with the solution and thank you for your reply, otherwise I would probably have given up.

            Have fun with the MovieServer!

You can also select via the network share (and its connected drive(s)) as the target in the DVDFab Target window to put things on the DMS.
