Request - XML config files to go with DVD like CDDB/Gracenote

    Here's an idea...

When A DVD is ripped, have the program auto save an XML file with all the Title's info. (save it as the Volume Label found on the DVD)

If that DVD is ever re-inserted, use the XML file to pre-populate the fields like title, chapter, Author etc...

Seems common enough where a rip doesn't take and the program needs to be restarted for one reason or another - it'd be awesome if we didn't have to retype all the titles (especially for TV series DVD's)

It could potentially one day turn into a CDDB/Gracenote type thing (If something like that doesn't already exist for DVD's)

The "rip goes bad" part is already there. As long as the Source is available, all of the settings you used are available after you click Finish, just click the back button and start over if necessary. For a disc Source to remain available, you must UNcheck the eject when done box in Common Settings. Putting it all in a file is something new.

      Thanks Signals,

Often when a rip goes bad, it seems necessary to either eject and re-seat the DVD, or restart FAB, or in some cases, install the latest beta of fab.

So having the titles saved persistently as files would be awesome.

A side benefit would be if you rip to say divx, and then a month later you wanted to rip to your ipod, the titles would still be there for that disk.

I agree for some special applications it could be a handy feature. I do lots of testing and have wished many times for a way to tag the ripped files with which mode was used to make them and other settings. I use the volume name for this now, not the best approach. Maybe this could be a project for the "to-do" list. Time will tell.
