You need processing power man.... the more you can get the better. You can always add the bells and whistles later on as money provides. I've got a quad core running at 3.7ghz that I bought 4 yrs ago. I paid mucho bucks, $2200, for it back then. But its still a speed demon 4 yrs later. I've added a new nvidia 460gtx card. I'm ripping, and encoding and burning a bluray ,main movie only, in under 2 hrs. If it doesn't have to be shrunk to fit bd25, it's under 50minutes.

Buy the most powerful thing you can afford.

will a Quad Core x4 be good enough or will a six quad be good because I either can get a quad core x4 at 3.2-3.4 or a six core at 3.0. Which would be better.

        Hey again,

Sorry, I've been really busy both at work (like right now) and home.

I know that this is a balancing act and 1k is about your max, but there are some items you can't skimp on.
I've never used AMD...I have nothing against 'em, I just have no real knowledge.
I doubt you'll realize much difference in terms of performance between the 2.

You absolutely need a better psu.
You need to upgrade your RAM, not more, but get it up to 1600.
You should upgrade your cpu cooler.

None of these items will break the bank.

I don't see how you can go much beefier on your cpu, given your 1k for everything, but it sounds like you can't wait either.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I think you did well all things considered.
The psu could've use a bump up , but like you said, you're already $200 over budget
and at least it's not a crappy unit.
Let us know what you think when you get it up and runing.
            Enjoy

Maine and everyone I decided to splurge and instead buy a 65 inch tv with 3d. I figured my laptop is ok for now. I mean it only takes me 2 hours to do a video now so I figured why not upgrade a tv. I bought a mitubishi 65 inch tv from hsn.
