    DVDFab directory

I have tried to change the location of the DVDFab directory; the default location for this directory in in my home directory (C:\Users\username on Vista). There is always (possibly empty) DVDFab directory created in my home directory no matter what I do.

I would like to place the default directory some place I never look at and then explixity specify the location for my output files.

I have this with the converter and with dvd copy.

    Thanks,

    Karl

The created DVDFab folder contains only a Log folder. So, perhaps it is created before the registry is checked to learn the correct location for the Log folder.

    Can this be corrected?

    Thanks,

DVDFab will rememeber the directory for output files if it is specified as the Target directory, for instance, I have mine set as F:\VIDEO and all files/folders are written there. This location is also rememebred when updating to a new version in the same series, i.e. within v8.x.x.x. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you mean, hope it helps. The DVDFab My Documents folder is created by the installer and will be empty if you change it to something else in Common Settings.

There will be log created once you run DVDFab. If you do not want to save the log folder on the default C drive, you can go to "Common Settings" > "Diagnosis", change the "Directory" to other drive by clicking on the grey dashed button.

          Hi Mona...

I have done what you suggested on the diagnosis panel, and changed the location of the log files. The log files are now being created in the location that I specified.

But, each time I run DVDFab, the DVDFab My Documents folder is created, and within that a Log folder. The Log folder is empty, as the log files are going to the new location. But the folders are created every time I run DVDFab.

This seems like a bug to me.

Perhaps the DVDFab My Documents folder and within that a Log folder are created before the new location is determined by reading the registry (HKCU\Software\DVDFab\V8\Generic\LogFolder).

          Thanks,

          ...Karl

            DVDFab folder in My Documents

I have gone to the diagnosis panel, and changed the location of the log files. The log files are now being created in the location that I specified.

I have also changed the output and temp directory locations.

I started this thread under the video converter and Mona initially answered, but this is perhaps a better place to ask.

            Thanks,

Two threads on same subject merged.
The same people read all the sub forums so starting two thread does nothing but create confusion.

Thanks for merging. I didn't know how to do that.

I thought that because the DVDFab folder issue was more general that just the video converter I should move it.

                Thanks,

Yep, I can and it has been reported on many occasions and never acknowledged or fixed.

                      Hi All:
This is known issue. We will NOT fix this in MFC build (before 8085). please waiting for QT build.

                      Thanks,

What is the approximate time frame for the first public qt build?
