    Other Burning problem

This morning I accidentally cracked an original Bluray. Fortunately, I had it backed up on HDD earlier. I decided to burn a hard copy from the file as it is my practice to keep the orginals just in case the HDD or the files get corrupted for whatever reasons.

Then, I encountered the problems. First I was confronted with a small screen with 2 choices: USB or CD/DVD formats. I cancelled as neither was correct. Then the burning failed immediately due to alleged "Out of memory". I then tried the USB and CD/DVD formats and failed too.

About 3 months ago, I had to burn a hard copy from a Bluray file without any such problems. I, therefore, suspect that this NEW VICE must have been created by the updates from Window 7 or ATI as recently recommended for QT 8.0.9.2. Or, is this NEW VICE part of the unexpected problems created by the new QT platform?

Below is the log for your diagnosis and help. Many thanks, in advance,

    childer,
DVDFab has nothing to do with this hiccup, and I'm pretty sure your file/folder is fine as well. Burning engine is likely cause of this unfortunate incident. Please go , read how to download, install and set up ImgBurn and give it a try...

      Dear IPopov50,

Thank you for your prompt support.

I will try later today or tonight and get back to you about my results.

      Meanwhile, my hearty thanks,

      Childer

The message box you viewed does not sound like one that DVDFab would present ("USB" is not a disc format). The log indicates that it knew you wanted to burn a BD-R. As Ipopov suggested, please try the free and excellent ImgBurn to burn your content. You may need to disable any other 3rd party burning software that may be on your PC.

          Dear Signals,

Thank you for providing another good observation.

Although I have not knowingly changed or installed any 3rd party burning software, it might have sneaked in through one of the routine updates from HP, Norton, Microsoft, Corel or ATI. I will check and sweep out any 3rd party burning software as well.

Again, most thankful for your vigilant help,

          Childer

            Hi childer
I also agree to use ImgBurn

I am not sure if this may help but your drive has a firmware update you will find it here

NOTE: If you do not know how to flash your drive do not do it, it will render your drive useless.

              Hi CBR929,

              Congratulations first!

Thank you for your very keen observations. How do I flash a drive?

Should it not like a regular update to a computer--just keep clicking until finished?

Or, if not, can I be taught, if it is not too complicated or time consuming?

Many thanks and my congs, again,

              Childer

                Hi childer
                Thank You

Flashing a drive is not very complicated, but if done wrong it will become a door stop.

First download the firmware to a download folder or your documents folder, double click the file it will search for your drive, a window should pop up say something like you are going to flash this drive from firmware xxx to xxx click yes, after done you may have to restart your computer and your done.

                Hope this helps

                  CBR929,

Thanks for the advice. I flashed successfully as you can see from the enclosed picture. But, I still encountered identical problems.

I am attaching 2 pictures taken to show the sequence.

The first picture shows a small screen as soon as I put a blank BD-R in the updated Lite-On Drive and I don't have the foggiest idea where it came from? I traced my recent system updates and could only find the ones for Window Office and Powerpoint. Should I uninstall them?

The second picture shows a smaller screen identifying DVDFab, saying "Out of memory", contrary to the fact. So far, it must have ruined 5 blank, as I can a very tiny ring slightly decolorized. Apparently, it failed to get in the writing stage after the initialing step.

Do you need more information to further help diagnosed my problems?

                  Many thanks, again,

P.S.: This my first time to attach and upload a PDF file. If not successful, let me know or teach me how to do it.

                    Hi childer
The first screen looks like you have auto play enabled for windows, which will ask you what you want to do with disc inserted in drive.

Go into control panel and disable auto play feature, I have vista and have mine set to "do nothing" when disc is inserted in drive.
Have you also install ImgBurn as suggested by my friend IPopov50 in post #2???

If not, please install it, I would be lost with ImgBurn as my burn engine, the Youtube video is no longer available so take your time and remember to set up the AWS in ImgBurn to burn at 1/2 the rated speed of your disc.
This will show you how How To Use The 'Automatic Write Speed' (AWS) Feature In ImgBurn

Your other programs are fine for now, you do not need to uninstall them.

It is hard to tell what the error Fab has given you, was it
113 HWS_STARTBUFFERFAILED 13 // Failed to start the data buffering. Probably a windows out of memory
Hopefully this will be cleared up with the install of ImgBurn as your burn engine.
We will get it going for you

                      CBR929,

                      Thank you for your patience.

Disabled the auto play, but a new problem came up as pictured.

                      Any thought?

Just choose your disc region where you live then click OK.

                            Hi childer
                            Sorry had to step out.
Looking at your screen shot, what are you trying to do!!!
I am guessing that you are trying to burn a folder to disc.
If this is the case you will want to choose the Write Data option.
