[Any to mobile] Where is the necessary option VBR ??

When converting a DVD or a blu-ray to mobile (m4v, avi, mkv...), to get a correct quality, we must use a vbr method that any software does since years and years...

But in DVDfab, I can't find the option !

2 pass encoding made a sad cbr encoding, so big files with very poor quality...

So... Dis I miss something ? or do I have to trash my license and use freewares instead ?

The new profile system in v8.0.9.8 may allow support for VBR settings, either now or in the future for some of the codecs. I think you will find that the processing rate will be slower for negligible benefit.

Advantages and disadvantages of VBR

Thanks, I understand how it works, I am just skeptical of the benefits for most purposes for which DVDFab would be used. If you prefer it, I hope they will support it as an option for both Rippers.

As I make encoding with source since 12 years (mpeg 1 for VCD with premiere), then divX, dvd, HD-ready and full hd movies with many software, I encourage the VBR option as it brings very better results when the bitrate is low.

When the bitrate is higher than 4000 for HD-ready and 8000 for full-HD, it does not really change (but professional uses it for any dvd and blu-ray), so I thing it stays the best solution.

For mobile movies, vbr is necessary to get good results when image moves (action movies) a lot, or when you have moving textures as water-surface.

I agree with you too, Signals and am skeptical also.

Generally, media players handle CBR encoding better, to the extent that some new Sony POS's will not even play VBR!!

I think that the level of complexity that this user wants to delve into is not the market where Fab is positioned. I think he needs to use a high-end professional encoding/transcoding solution to achieve his goals.
