    CPU/GPU AMD APP stutters

When I have the codec set to software, the resulting video file plays fine. However, when I set the codec to AMD APP the resulting video is jumping around and is not watchable.

My card is a ATI HD5970

    Graphics Chipset :
    ATI Radeon HD 5900 Series

    Supported Video Codecs :
    DXVA_MODE_H264
    DXVA_MODE_VC1
    ATI_MODE_H264
    ATI_MODE_VC1
    ATI_MODE_MPEG2

    CoreAVC : cannot be detected.

Can anyone help as I would like to harness the GPU during the convertion process and not rely on the CPU as much.

    Ta

Please tell us which DVDFab module you are using. If it is DVD or BD Ripper, tell us which profile. Please post the DVDFab internal log for one of the bad conversions.

        Hi numbers
Your logs say that you are using your ATI GPU, try it using software.
Open Fab click the Click the Green at top right corner of the DVDFab screen, and open Common Settings > General >A/V Codec, set Video Decoder to Software and set Video Encoder to Software restart Fab and try again.

          Hi CBR929,

I tried the software codecs before posting the initial issue and that works fine. I was trying to gain some performance gains by using AMD APP but get the stuttering issue. Not sure if it is a setting I have missed or what!!

            Hi numbers
            From Fengtao
Currently the ATI Stream support is limited to video decoding only. It's the problem of AMD driver, and we need to wait for driver updates to support H.264 video encoding. Also the decoding speed of ATI Stream is not much faster than DXVA, but it should be more stable than DXVA.
So the software option should be the best option for you.

v8.1.0.0 does support encoding also, even though I don't remember seeing it in any release notes.
The above is incorrect, decode+encode is supported for QuickSync, not for ATI APP, which is decode only. Sorry for the bad
              information.

This is bug of ATI APP, the order of two frame wrong.
                We will fix it later.

                Thanks,
                Potti
