dvdfab crashing computer getting BSOD

On a high note, I was able to use my computer to make a copy of my Thor disk, but I had to use an external disk drive to burn.
-
I'm sad.
Today I downloaded the latest version with high hopes. Popped in my Thor DVD and attempted to make my backup copy. FAIL.
I am disappointed that there has been no communication here, since I (and others) are paying customers that are unable to use the product properly.

So we still have no answers as to why it crashes when the drive opens to put in the blank dvd....... I have not tried in a while on this computer, was using it on my old computer.

ETA: Just to be clear, when Read was set to Auto, I was able to run the program through the first process, it crashed when getting ready for the second process. When I changed Read back to ASPI I had to restart the program to effectuate the change, it crashed as soon as the program reopened.
I have to go run some errands, will check back in when I return. I appreciate the help!Last edited by E*C*H*O; 09-03-2011, 06:51 PM.

The new beta crashes immediately after the program opens and it says it's scanning media. I was directed to a place to report the problem, which I did, and it looks like dump files and logs were attached.
FYI, I tried it twice, then restarted my computer and tried it again. It crashed every time.
ETA: I uninstalled and reinstalled. It successfully scanned the media, so I'll go ahead and see if I can get it to work. One thing that I had done per the earlier instructions was to change the Read from Auto to ASPI. When I reinstalled the program, it reset back to Auto. Maybe that's why it was crashing?Last edited by E*C*H*O; 09-03-2011, 05:17 PM.

Thanks echo
The developers have not been able to duplicate this and I have not either, and we have tested it on Win7 and XP SP3 systems.
As a test, I would suggest that you try changing the DVDFab I/O control in Common Settings->Read from Auto (if it is set for that) to ASPI. DVDFab requires low level access to all of your drives to operate correctly and something may be interefering with the SPTI access which is used by default. If this does not help, set it back to SPTI or Auto. Also, low level access generally requires administrator permissions, so make sure you are either the only user account on your system or have full administrator permissions. Problems with this generally don't cause BSOD though.
Please attach the ,dmp and .xml files to a post using the Manage attachments button below the post edit window. If you get an error message that they are too large, contact me via PM.
My dvdfab.exe file has the same time and date, it is correct.

I got the BSOD at the same time the 1st process completed and the drive opened up.
I went to check the log, but it didn't record anything. I attempted to copy the movie at about 8:35, however the log is from earlier at 7:25.
FYI, I am on a Toshiba Satellite E305, Windows 7 Home Premium.
ETA: DVDFab v8.1.1.5
ETA: When my computer rebooted, I got a window that said my computer was restarting after a serious error. I clicked to get more info and got these two file locations: C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Local\Temp\WER473C.tmp.WERI nternalMetadata.xml
and C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP
ETA: Another thing, I just opened the file location of the DVDFab program. It says date modified was 8/26 at 11:43 pm. I figured it would have the date installed.

I found the log =)
I am installing 8.1.1.5 again and have a newer movie to use to test. If/when it crashes, I'll provide the latest log.
