What are you using to play the disc, PC or standalone DVD player? Try playing the intermediate or temp files from that disc if you still have them, see if the audio drops out when played from files on your hard drive. I would suspect your blank media is producing errors that your player has trouble decoding. If the audio dropouts occur during fast action scenes it would tend to substantiate this, especially if they happen near the end of the movie.
