Other A/V Synch Problem on CUDA/Software

This is part of a previous thread - I wonder if the Developers could answer my query?

Using 8112 with codecs set to CUDA for decode and CUDA/Software for Encode gives the fastest ripping time but results in an A/V sync problem which steadily increases and becomes more noticeable as the rip plays - By mid-play it is bad, by the end of play, practically unwatchable - This problem does not exist when the Encode is set to Software (leave decode on CUDA) but the rip speed is much slower

One of the responses (Ipopov) did say say that the developers are aware of this (a mux problem?) but I had no further feedback to my query as to whether this was being (or could be) addressed and rectified by the DVDFab team

Is this being investigated in order to come up with a fix?

    Thanks

    Hi whaleshark:
    Sorry for trouble you.
We are working on mux problem, would you please post your internal log.
It can help us fix the issue faster.

    Thanks,

      A/V Sync on CUDA

      Hi,

Here are the extracted files as requested. The movie is a BD Rip to PS3 and I have attached a total of 5 text files as follows:

      1) dvdfab_internal (SOFTWARE) --- This file is with decode set to CUDA and encode set to SOFTWARE --- No A/V Sync problems on replay

      2) dvdfab_internal (CUDA + SOFTWARE) --- This file is with decode set to CUDA and encode set to CUDA + SOFTWARE --- Very noticeable A/V Sync problems are present on replay and increase as the movie progresses

      3) dvdfab_burn_vso

      4) Media Info (SOFTWARE) - This is the MediaInfo file for (1) above)

      5) Media Info (CUDA + SOFTWARE) - This is the MediaInfo file for (2) above

      I hope this helps you

      Thanks

I noticed this last night with 4 rips I did. I tried with CUDA, and CoreAVC, both gave A/V Sync issues, so I switched to software and the sync problems went away. Unfortunate since using CUDA not only uses almost none of my CPU and I always have plenty of GPU free, even when playing 3D games, but CUDA is also about twice as fast.

              A/V Stnch Problem

from a very quick test rip that I did, I do believe that 8116 qt Beta may have fixed this A/V synch problem --- I'll try some more tests but at the moment .......

BD/PS3 Rip A/V Sync on CUDA

The A/V synch problem has definitely been fixed with 8116 Beta using the CUDA and CUDA/SOFTWARE settings. The video quality does'nt seem to be as good as 8085 as I am seeing some 'blocking' (if this is the right term?) of the video during fast-action scenes. Best described as a kind of 'squaring off' or 'blurring' of certain parts of the fast moving areas - It's not that bad BUT it is'nt there on a a BD/PS3 rip using 8085.

Anyone have any comments on this?

                Thanks

                    Increase Bit Rate

                    Hi,

To what value of bit rate do I increase to? Or is this a matter of test different values and see the results?

                    Here are the logs requested;

Your conversion settings seems fine (including bitrate).
I would however, recommend to set your decoder to CUDA, but encoder to a Software.
Please try this combination and see if there's any difference in quality on fast moving scenes.

From the log it looks like you are converting from a BD disc. If so, try writing the main movie to a HDD folder first. Play some of that from the hard drive before converting and see if the action scenes look OK.

                          A/V Synch

Unfortunately I can't copy the BD to a HDD first as I don't have that paid option and the 'trial period' has expired --

My only 'problem' with setting decode to CDA and encode to SOFTWARE is the fairly large decrease in conversion speed ( drops to about 27 fps from 47 fps) but I am fairly certain that this would probably rectify the matter

Am going on vacation today so any further trials will have to wait a couple of weeks

                          Thanks
