Have tried the latest suggestions from support which consisted of uninstalling, cleaning and reinstalling DVDFab 8120.
Still no difference.
Why can I run 8085 but not any version after?
Packard Bell
Intel 8300 2.5gb Quad core
4gb ram
ATI HD4850 1gb
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Liteon iHOS104 Bluray drive (read only)
Norton 360 antivirus & firewall
If you have not tried completely disabling Norton, try that for the install and also running DVDFab to see if that is blocking anything. There should be something in the Norton log if it is.
Have now updated firmware on BD drive to WL0G.
Have tried installing and running DVDFab with Nortons disabled.
Still no improvement.
Are there any special antivirus and firewall setting to allow DVDFab to work?
Getting frustrated with situation.
Hope all this to and fro is helping support narrow down problem.
Why can we not have a new version that works as well as 8085?
Packard Bell
Intel 8300 2.5gb Quad core
4gb ram
ATI HD4850 1gb
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Liteon iHOS104 Bluray drive (read only)
Norton 360 antivirus & firewall
Tried installing as adminstrator and running as administrator.
Still same problem
Latest advice from support suggested installing Passkey.
Passkey managed to read the blurays fine and rip to HD
DVDFab Qt will not
Even installed 8.1.2.0 and problem persists.
Endless attempting to "open bluray source" with constant hanging.
The hanging continues after DVDFab is forced to shut.
Does not recover until reboot.
I am lifetime user of DVDFab DVD copy/rip and Bluray to DVD.
I am not a licenced user of Passkey.
I did not think Passkey was necessary to run DVDFab
All my problems started with the QT versions
I have a similar problem with the endless reading of a disc. If I remove the disc whilst reading. DVDFab continues to attempt to read. The difference is I only have this problem with "stranger tides" and it is only on the dvd drive. I can read the blu-ray copy and copy to dvd but cannot read the dvd copy. If I try to read the dvd with the blu-ray drives I get a crash so this sems to be simply a copy protection issue.

If it can't read a burned copy, how can that be a copy protection issue? The protection should already been removed the first time.
Sorry to mislead, I was not saying that your problem was a copy protection issue just that my problem which has similar appearances probably is. I didn't mean my post to be a solution to your problem I simply felt that it may help to point out that the same symptoms occur with this particular disc. I apologise if I mislead anyone.
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help.
Back to original problem.
DVDFab worked fine upto version 8085
Since then all QT version (right upto 8120) lockup
Locks up on "opening bluray source" causing a 10 second pause when the entire system freezes.
This repeats over and over and the only way to end cycle is to force DVDFab to shut (task manager) and the restart PC (usually by hard reset)
I have tried various solutions (including)
Install, reinstall DVDFab (including as administrator)
Running as administrator
Running CCleaner
Disabling Norton firewall & antivirus
Resetting DMA
Setting codecs to software
Updating video drivers and BDrom firmware
Disabling all startup programs (in Nortons startup list)
I have even completely reinstalled windows
Nothing makes a difference
DVDFab is a fantastic program that will soon become useless to me, when protection outstrips 8085.
Anyone have any suggestions I can try
As 8085 works but every QT version does not then it must be some conflict between my system and QT
Could it be something to do with my IP (Virgin Media 20meg)
Could it be something to do with my router settings
Please remember that 8085 works fine for me and all hardware remains the same

I just perused your thread...Bummer!
I have no idea what changed with the introduction of the QT versions, but I'm one of the lucky ones.
Although, I've experienced glitches, the core functions of Fab are still intact on my rig.
I know you've tried just about everything, but...
When you stated:
"I have even completely reinstalled windows"
Does this means that you "restored" or did a fresh, new install after reformatting?
Have you uninstalled your liteon?...I apologize if I missed this.
Just do this via device manager and reboot letting win7 reinstall and assign appropriate drivers.
I know your litey works outside of Fab QT, but I swear sometimes this stuff is like voodoo and you never know what's gonna work.
I would still physically replug all your connections...or better, replace the cables and replug.
You probably have extras and they're cheap as dirt anyway.
I would also power up and down in between swapping the cables and let the reinstall proceed in this fashion.
I can't determine what you have for a motherboard...the packard bell site is awful.
I suspect the motherboard may be a rebranded ECS board.
Is AHCI mode (drivers) enabled in your bios?
You could try enabling IDE just for the heck of it.
Since your not flashing your bios, there's no danger to your rig's integrity.
It's as simple matter to revert to AHCI in the event this hoses your rig's functioning.
I have this same LiteOn iHOS104 and I'm still using the original firmware WLOB. The old adage, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", has served me well.
When I listen that is...
While I don't believe reverting to a previous firmware will help, it's one more thing to consider and you can generally flash liteys forward and backward 'til the cows come home.
I'm using this BD-ROM in a home built Win7 Pro 64-bit rig in IDE mode (bios) without any problems.
Latest advise from support is to use Passkey to rip to HD.
Passkey (full version) seems to work fine (when QT does not)
I don't know if Passkey lite will work until trial period expires.
This MUST only be a temporary solution as I have a lifetime licence for BluraytoDVD and at the moment this software is failing.

Well, you're not the first user who's had to use Passkey for BD.
Hopefully this will be a brief, temporary workaround for you.
I'm sure it's very frustrating.
Unfortunately, there does not appear to be a one-fix-fits-all solution...at least not on the users' side of the problem.
What works for one user does work not for another.
Currently, users are stumbling around in the dark taking what looks like their next, best shot.
Frankly, as complex as Fab has become I'm surprised it works as well as it does for so many,
given the sheer number and variety of rigs out there.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
